thats what i did with mine i just took it out then when i needed to be quite thru my neiborhood i just put it back in

I cut mine flush with the endcap when I was sportin' the stocker. Unless you're running an 18mm carb and have the head all hogged out taking the whole endcap off will make your fifty run like a pig. Sure it may be louder and sound faster but it's not. These engines need backpressure to run properly.
