BP on a fiddy...

Is there one?

To ride long-*** whoolies on my streetbike, all I do is blip the throttle, I dont *** with the rear brake at all. But on my 50, I cant seem to find the point where the bike balances out. To keep it up on the fiddy for any distance, I have to use the throttle AND the brake, all the time - what gives? It feels like its either too low and coming down, or its looping, one or the other, and nothing in between. (i.e. a balance point)

do I just suck?

brake makes what easier?

and what do you mean "without it, you cant do too much more"? too much more what? distance? tricks?

i understand the concept behind using rear brake - its definitely the only way i can get any good distance, by using the brake to keep it in front of the flip point, and i obviously get better/flip less/go farther the more i try. i also understand you gotta get real good at it to do 12s, no handers, circles, etc

but if you cant ride it out, balanced - without the brake - then how do you ride spreaders, seat standers, highchairs, nac nacs, whatever - without a handbrake? (and it doesnt look like you have one in your avatar)

Re: BP on a fiddy...

yeah your right on with your questions...
much more being coasters, no handers , circles.... and yeah the ones you mentioned are all balance and pretty much everything can be done without a handbrake. Handbrake is more like a confidence builder - and is there when you need it or when you already have the skillset down and just want to perfect things....

I know from my experience I was really at a stand still until I really learned brake control - balance is definitely the most important thing but rear brake is right behind it...everything I was doing when I first got my 50 was balance - but as soon as I really got good on the rear brake I felt like I was riding at a whole different level...
Another trick you can try is to really tighten up the chain a lot to get engine breaking instead then you dont need the rear brake as much...
Just keep working on the rear brake is the best advice I can give - it probably sounds redundant but there's a reason everyone is saying it ... :YEAH

Re: BP on a fiddy...

The faster you go, the bigger the BP becomes. In 1st gear you gotta be up higher like on most sport bikes, go into 3rd gear on a fiddy and the front tire is like 1ft off the ground.

Like they all said and people after me will, ride the brake, practice, and be ready to compensate. Fiddys are small and every little movement will throw you off.

Man, why are yall lying to this guy..........?

Most fiddy come with a balance point installed. If your missing it, you can run down to your local bike shop, and get one for real cheap.

Re: BP on a fiddy...

Reason you cannot wheelie long on it without brake control is because there isnt any engine brake like on a bigger bike. I think that is the main reason because I dont use brake control just throttle and you cant ride it too long before you run out of power. Brake control is the only way to ride it forever like on a bigger bike.

My bike shop only offered 1 option - either the balance point or a red powerband...I took the power band

Re: BP on a fiddy...

i dont use the brake to much after a while it gets easier to find the point, the only thing i can do with my brake is bring it back down or slow it down if i am going to 12 it. I have no brake control so i pretty much just depend on throttle and engine braking

So TRUE! , I never ever use the rear brake and I can do wheelies for a block in 1st. My problem is that I want to move up to second gera and start learning new tricks but i'm so use to not using the break that it sucks trying to use it now...

rear brake is like a girl ... you need to learn it eventually and if you learn how to work it right you can use it to your advantage

Re: BP on a fiddy...

When I ride my wheelies, I get ti up to the balancing point, then step on the brake and control the balancing with the brake. The brake is always on if i want to go higher let off the brake some if I think i'm going to flip give it more brake. I used to ride wheelies with no brake. I could go for awhile but it wasn't consistant. I now have a scraper bar and it has giving me more confidiance on getting the bikes front wheel straight up with out me bailing, because i know there is a bar back there that will catch me. Before the bar I would bail if it got to high, Now it's a not even worried about.
