1971 honda SL70 parts on 05 CRF
i came across a 1971 SL70 honda nmotor, it's in good shape, and i was wondering if i can just swap the head, cylinder and piston onto my crf engine and have a 70cc that works or is there other differences taht anyone knows about. the 2 look identicle, but i'm thinking wristpin placement may become an issue or stroke of the crank might be diff?
any inputs?

Re: 1971 honda SL70 parts on 05 CRF
only thing u could use is the 4 speed trans. the motors have different connecting rods and the head uses a non roller cam. dont waste your time with that stuff. although the cylinder would work if you got a hold of a 70cc piston for a xr50 head. but the chances of that cylinder being any good are slim. save your self a headache and get new stuff.

It's worth looking into using the head if the hole that the cam rides on isn't blown the ***** out. I have one on my 110 motor, and it works fine. Need a new piston though, unless a 5:1 compression ratio is your bag.

cool, i think i might use the manual clutch or the 4 speed tranny, but i think i'm just gonna have to wait and buy a real 88cc bbk off fab5.
something told me it wouldn't fit so i'm glad i asked before tearing into it and realizing i was screwed.
