how many of you guys in the 170lb + range can get third up to bp easy?
i have to try like hell, but once i'm there it's all good, just seems like third needs a little diffrent technice than 1 and 2

any advice? how fast , technique , or do you guys just yank like hell on the bars w/ a bouce on the forks and the on/off method?

i can clutch them up easy but i don't wanna smoke the pads just to take teh easy way out.

 

easy, i was rocking 3rd gear ones when i had a stock motor. just pull back like any other wheelie. might make it a little easy if in 2nd you hold the shift lever up with yoru foot rev up and unclick the shifter. you shouldnt need too though.

 

i'm 190lbs and the technique is pull harder with the tug. they'll come up!!! just make sure you're ready to get on the brake.

 

Just yank harder!!! Although you really must have brake control so you don't loop a 25mph wheelie!! I can rock 3rd gear wheelies forever on my stock motor Fiddy. Well close to forever!!!

I'm with the yank harder club. I'm also with the looped my bike in 3rd club. My *** is still paying the membership. Be ready with the brake!!

 

I looped mine in 3rd about a month ago (thought I was in second). My leg still hurts. Be sure to cover the brake like these cats mentioned above. It's a MUST!!

Btw, I wish I was 170ish. Lol!!

do you guys do em in the low or top end of third?

, i can get it it up there but i've looped 3rd bout 4 times this week and think i tore my knee or something, it's like a make it or break it situation, you either hit BP or flip, so i was hopeing for a better way, w/ more control.

i got the rear brake on lock but sometimes my feet just pop off and it hurts LOL, and then the handbrake saves the fender after my knees bend backwards...ironic the fender is fine but i'm crippled..hahahahah

 

im 200 pounds. 3rd gear is my ****. just yank on that *****. you can do it almost from a dead stop. once yer on the BP you should be able to keep throttle in one postioin and roll for days. you will get it.

 

3rd gear is the **** just make sure your rear brake techniqe is tight. I once had a 3rd gear no footer go bad...couldn't get my damn foot to the brake fast enough....

 

Yea I concur with Brad and 5.0..

3rd is tight, takes a bit more tug but start out in the low end of 3rd and like brad said once you pull it up you should be able to just damn near keep the throttle smooth. Your going alot faster tho so the front wants to pull down more just lean back a bit more then you normally would and be smooth on the throttle.

My worst toss so far was the Arrowhead stadium parking lot, rockin like a **** in the top of 3rd and hit a loose rock or a loose spot of tiny sand or something on the pavement and just lost control! Slid on my ribs and forearm for a bit. Got some good rash and some bruises!

 

Just false nuetrul it when you shift into 3rd get your rpms up and wala keep that foot on the brake looping 3rd is no fun

 

i tug back not really up. its all technique

one of the last times i rode my 50 i was doin slow 3rd gear circles, not that wide tho , like 15 feet

 

<210pounder.. handfull of gas and hopefully u dont fall on ur azz...to me its just like anyother gear but ur goin faster ..its all bout bp and rear brake bro goodluck!
