Moving to FL
Moving to FL
Just seeing if everybody down there likes it. I've been down there twice in the last six months, and plan on moving in the fall. I like it alot more than MT, and I'm definitely looking forward to the warm weather; can finally get some riding time in. Haven't seen damn near enough beautiful women to sway my vote, but I'm sure I'm just not hitting the right places. It seems like half the people on this site live down there, so I thought I'd ask. Will I have fun? Will I do more riding than I've ever done in my life? I'll be in the Orlando area, and I think that's shitty as hell cause it's the worst part of FL I've seen.
I think my opinion means something here. I moved from Minnesota to Ft. Lauderdale 9 months ago. The reason I moved was to be by my Dad's side after he lost his wife of 12 years(not my mom).
Now as for how I like or don't like Florida:
-South Florida is totally different than Central Florida, visit both you'll see. House's are designed differently, roads are more curvy, etc.
-The women in South Florida are bitches(with exceptions). Not easily approached, they look for men with money, they look for guys that are so well dressed that they look gay.
-The people are all from somewhere else, most are from NY/NJ. So I call it New York with Sun. Get used to feeling like you're in about 5 different countries all at once. Brazil, Cuba, Hiati, Puerto Rico, Peru.....etc. I have many friends from different cultures so I am always the only one who knows just English.
-The riding--all the roads are flat(no hills), everyone takes the weather for granted unlike in MN(second largest motorcycling state next to CA). The riding season is the winter, starting around Nov.
The weather--The summer is too un-godly HOT to ride. Just walking from your house to your car, and you'll be dripping with sweat. It rains constantly, when I moved here the first two months(May and June) it literally rained(very hard rain) for those two months. Also when its 50 degrees in FL it feels like 20 degrees in MN because the air is so dense and thick.
I told my Dad that I would help him out and try Florida out for 1 year. May 1st my year is up and I'll most likely be moving BACK to Minnesota. I like the change in seasons, and I'm very homesick....I miss my friends and family.
I hope this helps in making an educated decision. Please don't take offense to anything I said, its just my humble opinion.

hey man come on down.i've been here my whole life and love it the heat is nice i hate the cold. rain ain't that bad it's like clock work ususal summer storms you can set ur watch by it.if ur tired of cold and like sun and fun you got the right place.
Hey guys, thanks for the opinions, great to hear. Weather sounds like a great change. Weather here in MT is completely ridiculous, it dries up and warms up enough to ride for maybe two months out of the year, otherwise you're cold and freezing. I was there in July, and the heat wasn't that different than what I'm used to, so I can deal with it year round. And I was just there at the beginning of this year, and the winter weather was great, too. So how could I lose? I'll be in Orlando, not too much I can do about that, but my grandma is in Spring Hill, and I've been in and out of tampa quite a few times. I'm not too excited about leaving my friends and family, but you got to do what you got to do. I've met some great friends that I'll always love, but it's time to move on. I'm hoping I can meet some people on here, so I'm not totally lost in a new place. I just turned 21, though, so I'm sure I'll be partying like I was 18. How far are you guys from New Orleans? What do you do for fun all year, besides beaches and riding?
Definitely know what you're saying about the different nationalities. Can't tell you how many times I was going to wring a clerk's neck because he couldn't understand me, or I couldn't understand him. But I also ate at an awesome cuban restaraunt in Tampa's Ybor city, so I guess it's a bit of a trade off
Do you guys have places to ride dirt down there? Dunes or anything?

Well, like was already said, dont make plans for thurs night cuase thats bike night and you r garunteed action all night, just get with the first group you seee and follow! It always fun with about 30 bikes on I-4!There are so many clubs and women that just that should keep you busy for while, if you are not into that then just riding man, sometimes Ill ride around for hours in the city cruising through downtown, see how many females you can get next to at stop lights, one time I had a car full that at every light another one would get on for ride to the next light! And I Have been here for all my life, I love florida AND orlando. You will like it more and more the longer you are here I think, what part of orlando have you been to?
Mainly been through the southern part of town, around disney (i'm sure that skews my view on the subject) haven't headed into the city on purpose yet. I just get so fed up with traffic if it isn't my town and I don't have a way out.
