Stuntbike repair shop
Well after selling the shop and fixing my hand .Wife says shes got the full time gig down. so i need 3 or 4 days a week of work .I was thinkin everyone is broke i know this. but alot of stunters in fla .you guys know already know I weld and fab anythng stell or alumuinm.I can do almost all the work, but cant do insides of motors. can takem out and putem in. and i know everyone does it them selfves to save money, but this would be a part time thing out of my small shop. i got a much smaller shop now .Im not sure about this know stunters always wait, intill the last min. but theres alot of you. and we aint talkin about highway robbery. i think if i stick to welding, fab and repairs and maybe some small stuff. swappin motors, wheels bearings, dirt bars risiers, cages and such.would love for one or 2 guys to get in on this make a little money, or at least pay for our habits with out dippin in the weekly paycheck. well may not be worth it, but really no bills, and i got the spot plus welders, tools, drills press, pipe benders, list goes on, and willing to show people to weld if they want. or fab **** got 12 yrs xperince.Another big thig is im buying a potable tig welder for alumiun, maybe bring to the stuntwars and try to do some on the spot stuff ??? well i think most people will say its probaly a bad idea.but i need sometine to do and tired of lookin. plus i dont wanna be in this alone would like it if one or two other guys, wanted somtine like this. What does Wraped Toys think and what does H.AI.think know you guys dont do much repair stuff in house or at least i dont think so it shoulnt be a problem ?? hazen, *****, somebody got any input kenny, drew, tony, tice mark ???? i could do fiddys and quad stunt packages ?? 12 bar h/b dirt bars cages assseriors. Re: Stuntbike repair shop
larry if you have all the equiptment then open a welding shop ,an add in the yellow pages is expensive but it is worth it ....
people will call if you have an add and you will eventually find a company or two that will send you regular work , if your lucky you will get one company that will keep you busy ....
most of the welding shops around here do alot of work for lawn and construction companies ,and you could also still do stunt bikes but the construction companies would probably pay your bills

Re: Stuntbike repair shop
omr love your posts, you seem to have a **** load of good advice and xpernice. i owned a custom alumin fab shop for 3 yrs and worked for the guy ibought it from for almost 8 yrs buidled fishing towers, for 32 foot fishin macihnes, wakboard towers, and alot of other **** cop dog cages streetfighters, ramps training equpimentfor k=9 cop dogs etc. check out www.ltwmarinefab.com its my site closed shop cause my hand has been rebroke, and casted for 3 months. would have gone under in the trantionsion no one around here wants to work, or at least couldnt find someone to weld and i woulld of run the front for a little while was willin to pay 25 bucks hour. ran an add in the paper still nuttin. instead of going bankrupt i closed and sold alot of stuff.kept alot got tons of ltw cards and flyers will get by hai and tell everyone, i said hey im ready to start taken in some work, got the cast off fri and can weld. but not suppose to lift over 25 pounds for 2 more weeks. roger you aint to far from me 95 for a hour maybe. sometime your up here gimme a call my shop is my garage but ill post some pics. it looks like my old shop just down sized. probaly take on 2 3 bikes at a time, got a killer little storage spot around the corner if i get enough bussiness .ltw 407 325 2603.yup i would love to work out somthing like you bring me so much work, you end up sponsered or something along the lines of the bike shops sending it my way, and i go out of my way for the guys that ride for those shops. espiccally when you pratice at an event and break somtin, we fix it before the event starts. really lookin for someone to get in on this with me. not really a partner but someone that wants to be around this type of stuff. maybe even start going to some more events
Re: Stuntbike repair shop
I think like any other small business, it will take time to "catch on." If you've got the wife doin the 9-5 and you can afford to take a risk - go for it. You already have the expensive equipment and there's always people that need things welded.
As far as making stunt parts or on-site welding for stunters - I'm sure you know that most stunters want something for nothing, so driving a portable welder out to Orlando could really cut into the profit of a 20-50 dollar weld job.
I agree with OMR about taking a broader approach to what your business specializes in. I think with your fabrication and welding ability there is probably easier money out there than building cages and bars. For example I know most of the powder coating companies around here won't even do bike parts anymore because ppl are picky and the companies can make twice the $$ doing fencing for appartment buildings and lattace work for Disney. It's fast easy work.

Re: Stuntbike repair shop
i didn't realise you owned a shop in the past so you already have all the experience you need to do this and like i said if the bike thing don't pay the bills you probably still have some good contacts for other work....
good luck
good luck
Re: Stuntbike repair shop
thats hazen yeah wasnt sure how it would help, but that dont sound like its agood idea huh portable thing makes people think oh just come here so scratch that. did quite a bit with the poweder coaters your right. easy money so i tried getting in with some places but its either 80 hrs or you cant get the little stuff.tried some other spots, but hard to get a foot in the door. most stunt guys all now me just need to organize it to make it where when some one breaks something they think oh yeah let me call ltw and see if hes got time or can help thats a big part of t my cell has been the same for 8 yrs. i wont lie i like being in the stunt relem, but it is cheap if you let people push. thats kind of why i want someone with me, to help it along so maybe it wont be killing me. not that i wanna pick and choose jobs like bitch, but once people get a taste of the type of stuff we do might help also. i now what its like to not here the phone ring for 2 weeks. sucks but its all part of america and i wanna work bored
Re: Stuntbike repair shop
