Uhhh, just for the record, how can they be bred for temperament and companionship if they are, as you stated, " blood line is show quality"... Being involved in the dog world, and have with pits for some 20yrs or so, everyone knows, from the pompoous westminster shows on tv and beyond, show dogs are bred for nothing but looks..... name one show german shepherd that can compete in police trials....
It doesn't exist. He is bred for different purposes...
And why do you want so much for show dogs? I guess its the demand. People just want a "big" scary looking dog.
Any why do you keep calling them "Am. Bull Terriers"? The are American Pit Bull Terriers.
Otherwise, they are American Staffordshire terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers, Bull terriers, Gull Terr, etc. These are ALL different dogs.
And if its UKC registered, its not technically purebred. UKC allows American Staffordshire Terriers ( AKC) to breed with American Pit Bull Terriers ( ADBA). The ADBA nor the AKC would allow ANY intermingling of the breed. But UKC DOES and a weird quirk to it is that AKC accepts UKC, and the ADBA accepts, UKC. SO anything with UKC in it is technically a mutt with similar ancestors....
So why do you want so much again?
Not to bust your bubble, as long as there are people to pay for high priced dogs and not know a damn thing about the breed, they'll be people who sell them.
But, what do I know. I am just not a fan of ANY show dogs. Notrhing I buy will EVER be show ANYTHING. If I buy a bloodhound, his *** better enjoy sniffing, if I buy an Autralian Kelpie, that son of a btch better chase and herd cattle, if I buy a little rat terrier, that sucker better kill me some rats, if I buy a golden retriever he better obtain water ffowl. How do you get this? Non-show stuff is never bred to working stuff. General Rule of thumb... Show stuff ALWAYS contaminates working stock...
If you want a dog to act and behave like it was originally intended to do, then go after the working stuff, train it, and keep its drives under control. Otherwise, if you want to look cool, with whatever dog you perceive as cool, you want to be lazy and dont train it much, and have a sheep in wolfs clothing, then buy show dogs. They behave very much like a regular dog. Nothing about them is special besides the looks.
But I can say, your dogs do look healthy, you seem to be taking good care of them, and I have no problem with you or your dogs. Unfortuneatly most pit breeders have not a clue about typical dog husbandry and many die from diseases, filth, etc....
Good luck with them....
