Go get the dimploma cause it looks good to have it I guess, but you will learn more in one day in a real world shop than a year at MMI.

Example:: put a new chain on a bike, took a mechanic who didnt go to MMI about 20 30 minutes takin his time, it took a MMI gradute 3 hours pouring sweat. And they do have a campus in texas or somewhere dont they? Why doesn't anyone go there?I have known about 20 poeple from MMI, of those less than half have gone back home and got a job in there field and NONE of the ones that have stayed work in there field. If you got a job, good for you, but I'm saying not everyone is as lucky as you.

Suicidl, what is it that you do for a living. And what, if any, formal education did it require? I understand the fact that everyone you know that went to MMI can't do shyit. Why, I have no clue. But you're supposed to have hands on training @ MMI so I don't see how one day of hands on at a local shop would teach me more than 2 years of hands on at MMI. I won't stay in Orlando. I meant I might stay in florida. I want to open my own shop. Selling and servicing bikes. I have worked on bikes and cars for a very long time. And no shop would let MMI send them new employees if they were truly as bad as you make it sound. The reason I'm going for American Sportbikes and harley, is simply the fact that it's more common, and easier to find a Job and customers with those bikes. I'm not out to make a shitload of money. I want to enjoy what I'm doing and make a comfortable living. If I could make 28 bucks an hour I'd be happy. If I have my own shop and it actually takes off and is successful, then maybe I'll make a little more. I love motorcycles and I love being around them. If you have a better way of making that happen then let me know.
Yes, I actually thought about going to the MMI in Pheonix. But, there's nothing out there. I have family in Orlando. And there's more to do. Who wants to go to school in the middle of the desert? I checked the school out, they had what I was looking for... so I'm going to go there. I like florida, I lived there before. I make 6.65 an hour right now. I'm up for a big promotion... I'll be making a whopping 8.25 FUUUUCCKKK TTHHAAAT. And thats diecent pay for around here. If I get a mechanics Job makin 28 bucks an hour it will be heavenly. Even if it were less. I don't care. Good for you gettin paid 1400 a week doin nothin. I don't have your luck. I like getting dirty and I like bikes. I won't stay in your precious hater filled O-Town. You can have it. I'll leave. ANd hopefully I'll be in that 1% of MMI grads you'd let put fuel in your bike.
If anyone has non drama filled, haterless info about MMI. Good or Bad, first hand knowledge preferred. Feel free to post away. If you know a good place to work... post. If you hate me and want me to die... post. I'm gonne be here replying either way! Have a nice day.. that is all.

Re: anyone in orlando??
Is it really THAT bad? If I could teach myself this **** I'd say fuggit and save myself the 20 g's its gonna cost me to do all the courses. I guess it's like anything. They can sugar coat the hell out of it and make it sound good enough to get people there. Any other schools that actually have good reputation? I haven't heard of any motorcycle schools other than MMI. So I dunno whats up. I don't want to go to Joe schmoe's cycle school and learn how to change oil. And I would like to get the hell out of PA regardless.
As far as being a contractor thats cool. 26 hours of overtime could be kind of rough though. But if the moeny is good it's no biggie I guess. I'm not trying to start a drama train here. And I do notice the thread has been heavily jacked. My apoligies. I'm just tryin to dig out info from people who know more about the school than I do. All I have are the phone calls, and pretty pictures in thier little brochure. I guess I'll just start a thread for MMI and lead this poor beat to hell one die. Thanks for the info Goober and O-Town. Suicidl, good luck with the contracting. I'll start a new thread now... we can continue the MMI bashing in there. I'm a big boy, I can take it.

Re: anyone in orlando??
seriously though if you are just going for the paperwork then by all means do it, but if youre trying to learn all there is to know i wouldnt suggest going,im just trying to save you the trouble of goin through the bullshit, ive got a friend that moved here from Minasota to go there, he likes it and all but he realized that the school just wasnt what it said it was cracked up to be and hes gonna drop out and film fulltime. i dont know from personall experiance or anything, but PM (smokering) him and ask him, other than that, i dont know what to say

I'm leaning towards going more for the help in getting a job to get even more "real world" training in a shop. I'll need a degree to get the job, MMI seemed like a diecent place. But, here I go again goin off on my little tangent. Let all the MMI talk go to this thread instead...

Roadstain, your cool.Sota, you dont know what that last comment is getting you into bro. We were all just messin with you and trying to gve you alittle insight on what we know, roadstain knows how to take a joke, you obviously do not.Take your e-thuggin somewhere else and grow up.Collectively the guys you directed that to know just about everyone in florida and especially orlando and central fl. that rides a sportbike and matters. So if you want to ride here, I'd calm down and just relax.Nobody was threating you and noone still is.I guess we didn't know we were gonna hurt your feelings so bad. So just
.
