At least I know there will be more people to ride with than I have now...

Re: anyone in orlando??

I could handle 9 bucks an hour. that would be nice. and whats OBT? Thanks for the info guys. I really appreciate it. I'm actually thinkin about movin down there a little bit earlier. My lease here runs out in may. And I'll be done with school at about the same time. I can transfer units to a florida Reserve unit so I don't have to stay with the army thing. Where do most of you live? I mean I know in orlando, but orlando has a pretty large area. What are the nicer yet not so expensive little suburbs to live in were my ***** not gonna get stolen...

Re: anyone in orlando??

If you are from the North they will hire you in any position in Florida. We have just relocated here and we can't believe how slow they work around here. Pay is good if you have experience in field you want. Working in a store or food place don't pay well, but there a many businesses down here who want good reliable workers. When we get our business up and running we will be looking for a good bike mechanic so we know to try to hire someone from the North. I'm talking about Central Florida. But I've been south and north and I see the same habits. If you like warm winters and HOT summers, you will like it in Florida. You can ride year round but they say they have rainy months. I think you will like it here and have no problems getting work.

Re: anyone in orlando??

So being from the north alone will get me a job! SWEET DEAL. How bout being from the north, being in the military, and having a buttload of manual labor job experience. Think I'll be able to get a nice, cushy, well paying, easy, indoor job? haha. That would be amazing! I won't be done with MMI for a while yet, especially since I'm not even starting till next year. But if you need someone then, hit me up! How much do typical MC mechanics make around florida anyway? anyone know? and how hard is it to get a salvage bike retitled?

Re: anyone in orlando??

i really didnt know **** about bikes till i started so i have got tons of info out of the school so far i love it... i dont grad till sep of next year so i got a lot of schooling left but all in all its a good school .. the first 6 months ( i think its 6 months) are kinda slow when you learn all the basic stuff then when you get out of clinic 7 ( the big 3 week test) when you get into your electives (honda, harley etc) is when it gets fun.. im in harley now and i have to say its so laid back and fun its great.... when im done with harley im going into honda so yeah i say its way worth it..

yeah fed ex is where they would put ya at first till you can find something else also if you can lie pretty well and just say your going to move here but your still in school like ucf or something and not mention you are moving back home when you get out of school my company is always hiring people but if you say your going to mmi they wont hire you *hint hint hint* so if you know how to turn a wrench and dont mind getting dirty call 407 277 0122 and ask for mike.. our website is www.capworld.com check it out if not no big deal but its a little bit of a help

Well the sign at the local dealer says labor rate:$70 per hour.....I don't know how much of that the mechanic sees though.

I'm not kidding about being from the North and landing a job. As far as how much they will pay? It all depends on the boss. My husband would be doing the hiring for the mechanic's. I take care of the office & store. When you are available email me at LizJJA@aol.com and more than likely we will be looking for a mechanic. There are lots of jobs mechanically or elsewise. There is more jobs available than I thought. I did some riding today and was checking it out. No need to worry about work. Good luck with your future. I wish you well. Keep me posted. Maybe I will be able to help when you are ready.

Re: anyone in orlando??

Goobster, what company are you with? And does it pay well? I don't mind getting dirty and crankin a wrench. I'm not too incredibly mechanically inclined or anything though. I can do the basics. I do actually plan on living there. I'm gonna be there for a couple years and might stay in the area forever. So I wouldn't even have to lie haha. Thanks for the info.

Re: anyone in orlando??

Where would you suggest going then? I don't know any other place to go that teaches manufacturer sponsored mechanics for motorcycles. Should I just stay up here in my snow country and buy an old bike and a shop manual and start tinkerin away? I lived in Florida for 4 years, and have been moving all over since. I'm not a tourist. I know the school is expensive, but I did some research and it looks like the best one. Yes, it's expensive. But I plan on opening a shop of my own. And if I were a customer and I saw "hickville community college of scooter mechanics" degree on the wall for the justification of the shops abilitiy to work on my bike. I don't think I'd go for it. Nor does "Oh, my brother and my uncle Louie taught me" cut it. Why is the school not respected? Whats so horrible about people from the north? Have you attended MMI or know a few people who have? Just cause one person comes out clueless and unable to do **** doesn't mean everyone does. Goob's goin... is he an idiot for it? Or is it ok since he was already from florida. I guess he's just wasting a lot of money to end up workin at disney too then huh? I've heard the rumors, how everyone says they don't know **** and how they all suck. But if that was true, I doubt they'd be sponsored by all the major bike companies in america. Maybe I'm wrong. And more than likely I will not stay in florida. But I could like it. It's not the first time I wil have lived there. Either way I'm still going. I'm just curious why there are so many haters?
