I need help getting my Pinacle software up and running. I have it loaded correctly and attached the camera to the movie box and computer. When attaching the Sony digital camera the instructions say to use a 1394 firewire. Is this something sold separately? We just got a usb connection when we bought it. The error message we see when connecting the camera to the movie box with rca cables (red,white,yellow) is "can not initialize DV capture source. Anyone have a clue what's wrong?

 

Yes, you need the 1394 firewire. Yes, it's sold separately. The reason for the error message is that the firewire is what controls the camera from the computer. Meaning you can play, fast forward, rewind, and capture from the capture screen on your computer. Think of the firewire as a remote to the camera from the computer... it allows them to talk to each other. Without knowing details on your set-up... you'll need to make sure you have the right capture settings as well, or the computer and camera may not work together. Hope this helped!

What he said.... I just set my Sony mini DV camera up using Pinnacle and it works great. I haven't really had a chance to play with it yet... perhaps I'll convince my wife to give me some material to work on this weekend. :YEAH

 

If your computer doesn't have a firewire port, you can get them for about 30 bucks at best buy. I had to add one myself

 

i have pinnicale also, is it just my comp or how come the prgram doesnt fit on my screen it seems to big, but its at its smallest size wtf ... i cant use the whole program b/c i cant figure out the other buttons
