as far as here in the states... region free has been around for a while, do all region free dvd players have converters built in, hardly..

as far as conversion... the higher up the food chain you go im sure the better results you will get... avid, media 100, and smoke im sure would make light work of it, but at around 70k a system.... I would gamble on us buying new dvd players :D

Still, I'm getting Avid in a couple of months but I'd like our film available in the US before then
It may be time to call in a favour with a mate who edits for the BBC...

Re: Multi-Region DVD Players
well avid xpress is nice, all the heavy hitters are based on proprietery hardware
dv411.com has some nice goodies as well that may help
or atleast speed up the trial and error part of it

Right, time to call in that favour. If that doesn't work I'll see how it looks in Avid
In the mean time, if all you guys in the States and Canada would kindly buy region free DVD players, that are PAL compatable, I'd be eternally grateful

Re: Multi-Region DVD Players
that dvd player will play anything if you crack it....most North American players only play as we all knowNTSC.....but if u get a machine thats crackable ...your pal dvds are np.....i have a PAl verision of YAMAKASI/Dobermann..and it plays fine on both of my cracked NTSC players.... now the only thing is....not many people are into these things...watching european/asian movies so to them it doesnt matter...that plus there is some sort of a law that the american manufactures cannot make a region free players knowingly...wink wink.....i'm sure all the big DVD companies have somthing to do with that....piracy and ****...blah blabh blah....in other words..... u gotta make two..PAL for europe and NTSC for America....

From what I saw on that site... that player would indeed NOT do the job you are inquiring about..
after reading about it on yet another site, i concide it does do pal conversion

Re: Multi-Region DVD Players
You guys all lick hairy pussies, Regional coding is just a way companies protect their DVD sales in certain regions, basically it will not allow playback if your disc is coded for a different region.
PAL, NTSC, and SECAM all have to do with how the colours are displayed on the screen and with frame rate. Teh two are separate......
