okive been looking to buy a good editing software but i cant decide what to get. ive heard a lot of good things about final cut pro but i dont really want to buy a new computer to make that work. ive also heard the sony vegas software is good. i was wondering if anyone could help me out by letting me know what they use and how good some of these programs might work. i dont want to waste my money by getting some cheap *** software that doesnt work or let me do the effects i want so any help from any one will be appereciated thankstravis

it depends on what you wanna do bro realy. I use Sony Vegas 8.0 HD version ive been using vegas for over 5 years now n i love it and know it like a science.

Now if you have a choose to teach yourself how to edit and you have never edited before then i would spend the extra money on buy a MAC and use final cut pro...it is a very very clean program...now if your a pc user its tough to get use to not having a right clicker and macs r diffrent then pc.

or spend 500 to 1000 on sony vegas...vegas compared to final cut is a little more user friendly auto transitions and effects..
but if you watch streetfighterz videos and watch my videos..adam uses final cut i use sony vegas..you would not be able to tell the diffrence other then our styles...so its simple...

you take a clip and place it on a timeline...you take a clip place it on timeline you repeat that over and over again to music so any program does that...its how you want to use it...you want a gixxer 600 or 750 both will do there job but one has a view features that are better..you know what i mean..

go to youtube.com and search mikenicely films you will see i use sony vegas

vegas is probably the way to go for your first time out...final cut and premiere have a pretty hectic learning curve and can be very daunting for a first time user...

Vegas is a good one for sure, It is pretty user friendly! When deciding I think it helps to read reviews and pick what suits you best. I use vegas 6.0 and I am for the most part happy with it.

yeah it's pretty bad ***... Still finding all the new **** from cs3 to cs4. They really did a good job this time. Especially in photoshop, dreamweaver(quick links and smart objects ), flash and after effects. Gotta love adobe camera raw too.

cs4 FTW!

Re: video editing help

which one is cheaper... Adobe Premiere or Sony vegas?

I have ben playing around with WMM and Ulead Vid. Studio 10 with some of my hunting footy. I just got photoshopCS2 downloaded on my PC, and now I want to hit up some nicer editing software to play with all my footy.

Shitty thing about all the work I've done is it was all shot with a stupid Hi8 that I paid like $700. for back in 02... (funny how the camera I wanted back then that was like 5G's is now closer to what I paid for that lame Sony HI8!)

I dunno though.. I think I'm getting some generational loss because of the camera being what it is. I would love it if the footage looked like it did on my flip out LCD on the camera at LEAST, but no such luck yet!

Will either of these programs help with that, or is it time to pony up on a new camera too?? ****, even a cheap digi. HIDEF consumer-grade camcorder from walmart would work better than the old HI8 wouldn't it? LOL

I believe Vegas is a little bit cheaper, and yeah I would prob pony up and invest in a new rig but you don't need the best equipment in the world to make good videos, you just need to be creative in shooting and editing, and I find that a big fatty helps to stimulate the brain to get the creativity flowing

LOL
Hence the name.. BUD productions... LOL
I'd prolly have to agree with you too... dry as a bone around here though.... =/

Thanks for the advice too. I really do think I'm limiting myslef with the camera...it's why I don't shoot anything anymore....
I just can't get a clear quality of out **** by the time it's sucked out of the camera onto my PC. It's all grainy as hell and there are little purple lines flashing across it from time to time....... I hate it!

I think that if I had that $700. to spend on a camera NOW instead of back then, I think I'd probably be just fine... but I wouldn't have shot 3 PNY deer on film and countless turkeys either. The experience was well worth the sacrifice I guess...

Approx. how much is the editing software then for a PC?
