Editing Software

What's the best editing software, I've tried a couple different ones and so far they have been crap.. any recommendations???

The best or the best obtainable? Best would be Avid,Media100, or Fire/Smoke (which you will never get your hands on) Best obtainable would be Avid DV, Vegas, and if your a mac user.. final cut pro

I have both Avid DV and Adobe Premiere. For home use I would recomend Premiere just because its more compatible with the other Adobe products such as Photoshop and After FX. You can take your raw files and go from program to grogram without having to covert the file format of the video. Plus you can find discounts if you buy two or more of the Adobe programs at once. Or you can just find hacks like I did. Avid DV has its own codec. Which can make going into other programs more time consuming. If you plan on staying in the NLE go with the Avid DV its a great program. Jus my 2 cent

premiere is okay, but full of major bugs.. so i don't like it.

vegas 3.0/4.0 are both dandy, and i use them often.

pretty much everything nefarious said was da truth.
