gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

Still getting used to the new sprocket and working on using the rear brake instead of the gas to control them, but here's my gimp wheelies from today if anyone wants to give input.

Re: gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

bro, do yourself a favor and find a better place to practice your power wheelies.
not hating on your wheelies, everyone starts somewhere, but thats not the best place for learning to balance your wheelies (if thats what your trying to do)...

Re: gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

I have a nice flat road I go play on my my apartment, that road in the videos is the road by my parents up in the middle of no where. Need to get someone out to the road by my place to vid so I can roll out some slower ones on a decent surface.

Re: gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

whyd you change the sprocket?

are you going for slow wheelies?

put the stock sprocket back on and start clutching them up from a dead stop, then start controlling them with the rear brake and not the throttle

Re: gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

stock chain/sprocket had 20k miles on them, and figured I might as well do it all the way when I replaced it.

Re: gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

Drop some height out of your wheelies, go back to almost basics, and keep it smooth, learn some throttle control... not hating or anything but bad throttle control is what will make you flip it... a 1 ft high 2 meter long wheelie is more impressive to me if it's smooth than a 2 mile long jerky as hell wheelie.... once you can keep it smooth you'll gradually go higher and higher and then slower...

I don't think you really need to be "on" the brake at the minute, not at those speeds.... make sure you cover it and know how to use it though but you need to learn some throttle control first.

Most importantly though, keep at it :YEAH you'll get it soon just sometimes you gotta take a step back before you can advance forward... Lovely bike too, that paint is nice!

yep definitely gaaarbage.....lol

just playing....you should clutch it up from almost a complete stop...you will be a little more confident dropping it back at 25mph instead of 75mph

You need to concentrate on being smooth on the throttle more than anything right now. I know the 954 is twitchy but once you can smooth it out you wont have to worry so much about wobbles. Also if you could do mile long sitdowns then you could do mile long stand ups. I find sitdowns harder than stand ups. Either way though sitting or standing in order to ride out a decent wheelie you need to be in the balance point. Sorry if I sound like an *** about that it just kinda bothers me when people say "I can do a sitdown as long as I want but not a stand up". Practice alot and one day it will just hit you and you will be like man why didn't I do that along time ago.

I can rock the standups for a mile but it's high speed. Am reaaly wanting to work on slowing them down.

exactly.

in a low powerwheelie, push the rear brake a lil to see how the bike reacts to the brake. the idea is to get that into your reflex

looking good though, youll get it

Re: gaaaarbage wheelies from today.

get smooth at a highspeed first. even if your up on the highway in 3rd u need to be able to smoothely roll the bike back to the brake. then learn it in 2nd gear and then go to first. of course these gears will be relative to how much of a sprocket change u did. and the higher you clutch it up initially the easier it will be to control the throttle input.
