Berz Macomb airport (where this was filmed) is listed in the AOPA Airport Directory as having a single 4200' runway. The markings in this ariel shot are clearly the same as in the video.



The runway is 100% symmetrical. The touchdown markings are 1000' from the end of the runway, on either side. He's picking it from the middle of the 1000' touchdown mark, and nearly hitting the end of the runway. Is it 1050'? Maybe not, but it's WAAAAAY ****ing longer than 450 feet. I'd venture to say 900-950 in the third one, easily.

i was right..its over 500feet!

 

It's simple math.

The runway is 4200 feet.
Halfway is 2100 feet.
The touchdown marks are 1000-1050 feet from the end.....

Well ****, my faith in the FAA and its laws have been proven wrong. I loked it up and this airport (which is now decomissioned) does have a 4200 foot runway. Neither myself or many charter pilots who I have discussed this with have encountered a situation where a 1000ft touchdown zone has been marked. This runway is painted incorrectly and you are right. He does indeed roll about a 900 footer. Well, I feel sheepish------

It did not say every single one was 1054ft. in fact, the longest one , wasnt even on the clip, Sonic Jay did the editing and the 3rd one was about 1000ft. , and yes i was hauling ***, about 120mph on a stock gsxr1000 with 2 dampners, that footage is from august of 2003, peoples style changes over a couple of years, they dont look like that any more, buy our dvd, and maybe you could see some better ones, until then thanks for noticing, and you will definately see some farthers ones this year, either by Gorka, me or somebody, but you'll see 1/4 mile this year :YEAH
