Nearly six decades, our nation had enjoyed air superiority in every conflict since your establishment as an independent service in 1947. From Korea's Mig Alley, Viet Nam's Thud Ridge, Robert's Ridge in Afghanistan, and over the skies of Iraq, the men and women of the Air Force have been the epitome of courage, valor, and selflessness sacrifice around the globe.

As you celebrate your illustrious heritage and face the challenges of the future, rest assured that the Marine Corps recognizes your accomplishments and shares in your commemoration. Marines are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you as we defend our nation in the global war on terror. On this anniversary, it is fitting to pay tribute to those who built the stellar reputations you rightly deserve, and to take pride in your valued service to the nation.
