Life here in the Middle-East
Life here in the Middle-East
First off, I don't want to sound as if I am on the front lines here over in the Middle East, getting ready to invade Iraq in a moments notice...I am not... I am however close to all the **** that you see in the news that is taking place over here. I see first hand the life of every branch of the service since I am deployed to a base that houses every one of them.. From the Sea Bees, the Fly Boys to the Army Dogs... hell there is even your weekend warriors here that volunteered to come over here. I am in the Marines, stationed here in Kuwait waiting for the word on what is going to happen next.. The only details I know on the situation at hand are the ones you see on CNN and Fox New back home. Sometimes I think they find out details faster then the people here. Kinda strange, but I guess that is they way it works. All I can tell you is that a ton of people over here. It is pretty amazing and exciting. I've never worked side by side with the other services, and so far it's been a great experience. Everyone has been helping each other, and willing to put up with each other. Before I got here, I thought the Marines were so much higher on the food chain then the other services.. We may be a little more hardcore then the rest, but we are all equal... I've gain so much more respect for everyone else during my time spent here. I just wanted to tell everyone that being over here is worth all the **** you've been training for and have put up with... and if you any questions about life over here post them, and I'll do my best to answer them, just as long as I don't give away the nation's secrets..
And for the ones that are coming over here.... some advice.. Chap Stick, Chap Stick, Chap Stick... the wind over here is a killer... and the low 40s' at night is a kick in the ***** for this Cali Kid...

Ishman,
Glad to hear you are doing ok. I won't have the option to go over. I'm in the Coast Guard. But what you said means alot.
Thanks for representing all of us over there!
