what do you guys think
what do you guys think
About someoen joining the military now. I need to do something with my life and its either college or the military. I was thinking about the Air Force. But I don't know if its such a good time. I woul dlike to stay in the states. I know this prolly can't be answered but atleast you guys have been there, done that and know some sorta direction to give me.
Honestly the military isn't a bad option. You don't have to make it a career, you can just do 4 and get out. With a couple of strings. LOL
Why not the Coast Guard? Your chances arn't that good to get stationed out side of the 50 states.
Something to think about.
How old are you?

What are you scared of? Between the 5 different services to choose from, your chances of going to war are pretty slim. And even if you do, you'll be making so much tax free money, it'll take you the rest of your enlistment to spend it all. Plus, if you do enough research, I'm sure you'll find a job within one of the branches that you'll enjoy!
If you join the military then the chances of you going are pretty high believe or not Donald Rumsfield said every 1 would go with in the next couple of years. I think the cost guard is probably your best bet. But you shouldn’t enlists and not want to go anywhere so you should probably go to school. That’s just my .02
Dude, don't believe the hype that you hear in the news. I'm in the Air Force. It's all sensationlism. Newbies don't get sent anywhere for a while because you need training. I love traveling the world. Seen a lot, done a lot. Trust me, getting out of the states for a while is nothing to fear. Plus education benefits are great. I love the AF. Cross into the Blue.
I was a communications guy in the Air Force for 9 years, and I had a ball. What I would do if you were interested is go talk to the recruiters with someone you know thats been in the military. See what they have to offer. Job training, educational benefits, etc. Then make your choice.
I dont know why you would want to stay in the states. The best times I had when I was in the military, was overseas. Granted some of them were warzones (Persian Gulf, and Bosnia) but still, overseas is probably the biggest benefit to being in the military. where else but the military can you wake up one morning in Germany/Italy/etc, and go visit another country for a day trip, and experience what the other countries have to offer.
Give it some thought. If you got any questions, let me know

Damn hotf3one, I guess you dont watch the news much, just now crawled out of a hole, or really have no F'ing clue to what you are talking about. Apparently you never served in any branch of the armed forces. I seem to recall a unit out of Ft Bliss that had combat losses during OIF. Bunch of mechanics, cooks, etc get in the middle of combat. Or how about a Air National Guard SSgt that was killed in action when his convoy was ambushed. He was not a grunt, or MP, he was I believe a radar specialist. Every position is deployable. Why dont you let the people who have served, or is currently serving dispense the advice. If you are worried about combat, then dont join any service.
