What do you guys say
When someone thanks you for your service/goes on about how much they respect people in uniform. When I tell people I'm going to the corps, they do what 99% of other americans do and go on and on about how much they appreciate it.. Gives me a good feeling but at the same time I feel like a deer in the head lights. Usually I just say I'm trying to do my part etc. and thank them.

sometimes they'll stick around to chat with us, when we are having home station drill we usually have an officers call at Dave and Busters and we've had a few of them come up and buy us all a round of drinks...then i get almost speachless, seeing as how there are usually 15 of us there. But they'll stick around and chat with us for a bit after the round of thanks we give them.
