i have a 13.5 JL W7 with a 1in thick MDF & Plexiglass box. I hit a 148-149 db with this thing. It could easily hit in the 150's with the right amp.

Yo just go on ebay you can get subs brand new for a hundred bucks or less now. All brands the jl 7 is up there but if you are not looking for a competition stereo infinity or alpines are dope.

I've been looking for some L7's on ebay. They aren't that bad... Maybe 150 or so for a 12. They hit hard too.

 

yeah i always look on ebay, but lately, nothing that good. The only thing is that i cant fit bigger than 10s in my navigator, the trunk is too damn small. I had infinitys in my car before but now i want something better, such as rockford, JL, kicker or mTX or whatever. SOUL, what model are those? maybe if i can get a custom box to fit them in my navi....?

 

What do you mean? My Expedition is the same everything as your Navi and mine fits fine. Just get a custom box made for like a truck, put a 12 W7 in it but have the box run the entire trunk and you'll be set to go. Also, you can pull the 3rd seat too in case you didn't know. How often do we have to tow 9 people dude? Seriously, we have more room than any vehicle. I like my 3rd row seat so I keep it and have a decent sized truck box but getting another one tomorrow and then use my phoenix gold amp and right now it sounds pretty good with one 12" audio bahn. The RMS on the ****** thing is 450RMS. If I get 2 then its more than necessary. I am not trying to attract attention to get my stuff stolen. I just want to hit nicely and those outside can hear clarity and bass. Not down the block and still hear me, that's pointless if your not going to beat everyone in competitions...

Audio bahn's are actually pretty ****** good. Price per wattage they are up there with the best of them. You can get a 10" that will RMS at like 800watts. Almost the same a a W7 JL but at half the price or less. Seriously, they are pretty good speakers. I heard a kid with a bandpass box, and 2 ten 10" and a pyle (cheapo weakling on ebay) and the **** hit so ****** hard I got a headache real quick. He's willing to sell them if you want me to give the number. He was bumping some country music and the **** hit HARD. So with the amp and the 2 tens is more than enough and you have room. His **** bumped. On ebay you'll find alot of refurbished, 9X out of ten the jack *** just returned it b/c they needed the money back but the factory redoes it. How do I know? I went to the Kicker FACTORY and spoke to a cool *** guy and he explain the whole deal. Any returned item goes through a **** load of processes as they usually don't know what's "wrong" with it. Then they do lots of tests to find out and replace most everthing in it, so therefore is new. But not " new" its better. Why? B/c they do and take it on an individual basis. The speakers that come out the factory are mass produced so these are done on a presonal; level and will work at the same or better than new based on the personal care of the speaker, amp or whatever. I bought a digi camera that costs about $450 and still after lots of pictures, etc it still takes AWESOME pictures. Go ebay, pay cheap and go with better stuff that is refurbished. You'll save more the 1/2 on a "new" price. Seriously its good ****. The kid that had the 2 tens, he didn't even turn it up all the way and sounded bad ***. His whole thing was the country music isn't good being so loud and he gets annoyed and headaches from being so loud. So, bro, I said enough. If you want the kid's number ( I call him kid as he is younger than me by 8yrs or so) I can give the number. Its a good *** deal but I don't want that much loudenss. Its tooooo loud for me. I don't like that much hit power but its LOUD. And I like loud but not competition loud....

they are 12w) and they fit in my tahoe fine i had a 300 watt fosgate amp pushhing them and they sounded good! run about 500-700 to em they will bang the hell out of ya

OK, I just did the final overhaul for my system. My ****** expedition still HAS the 3rd seat brotha. And I got a box today that is still plenty. I am running my speaker at 8ohms (which means its not getting the full amps that it would be until I get another amp.) If I ran it at 2 ohms the **** would hit HARD as ***. I have 1 12" and ran my amp on it today. Holy **** the mother ***** hits. Now if I had 2 of them in a long truck box but with enough air space my **** would hit with the right amp. Sorry, but my audiobahn 12" hit at a 1000watt max and is rated at 400RMS. So if I got a 1000watt RMS amp and another 12" plus a box that'd hold 'em then I'd crush any Kicker W7 8", 10", any ****** JL W6 on down the line NO problemo. Being that they are 1 speaker. If you say " hey no **** they are going to be louder, etc", well no ****. I am not spending $350 a speaker, plus $200 on a box, plus box, plus amp, *** your looking at $1000. I don't have ALOT of money to spend on name brand stereotype bullshit. Trust me, you can get 2 12" audiobahn's for $77. Yeah, no ****. Then get a truck box for $150 (shooting high for ported if you like, mine is sealed and still hits with one 12" and makes the cars next to me with winodws up still hear my **** and I am hella weak..) and a amp from EBAY and you done for about $400 and that's good *** speakers, let me tell you, a good *** amp, and a box that will not run you higher than you need to spend....

You do what you want. JL's are nice but require lots of cash and anything below W6's are not worth buying. You can go to walmart and buy some shitty ol' pioneers that are 660watt (rms is a WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY) that'll hit hartder than that and you can save more than half the dough. *** name brand hype. If its shitty in the RMS staus ( RMS = what it hits consistantely now what the max is. The max means it can't make anymore sound, distorted or not, its blown. You want clean sound not busted distorted crap. SO go off the RMS. JL W 0's are like 75watts RMS but you pay a **** load. *** that. Mine right now is rated at 400RMS REAL ****** ****** WATTS. Max is like 900-1000. SO it is capable of beating MANY name speakers. LIke the one guy said, audioahn is going to his shop and has over 11000 goin to the car. They make good stuff. For cheaper GOOD QUALITY sound save money and go with the ****. I am telling you you CAN'T go wrong with these. I was VERY doubtful at first but after hearing what people said and not the shops trying to sell ****, these things hit. I saw the design and thought they look stupid with the flame *****. But these things actually work. I tossed my Pioneer out completely and now working the home stereo. Now more car rides for it. I got a new box, bridged it and ran it to 8ohm stable and the **** hits. As soon as I get a new amp ( 2ohm stable) the one 12 will hit waaaaaaaaaay hard, trust me. PLus the stock speakers that come with eddie bauer sound bad *** with it. And you knwo what? I never replaced the deck, its stock, hahahahaahaahah. So many poeple so far have come up asking wquestions. I told them its off this deck etc and they are like " damn, the **** sound hella clear and hits."


You do what you want buddy but ebay audiobahn 12's for $77, a box for about $75 shipped on ebay, then a GOOD amp (refurbished is 1/2 priced and is good as new as explained in my other post) and for this you'll get away with a better sounding system for waaaaay cheaper and you can keep you r stock ****. I did this so when thieves come by and look, they don't see a "cool" deck and all they see is a tape deck. Meanwhile the 6disk cd changer is in the consol....haha. Looks sotck sound bad ***.....

Hey, I found this guys number. I have to go to the car and get it. But I'll post it as soon as I get back out there. His 2 ten's will smoke some stuff. Seriously. I just didn't have as much as he to spend. OK, I am NOT going to spend like $600 on a amp and all of that.

What I have in it right now is a 12" audiobahn, a phoenix gold QX180.2 (2yr old amp rigged on 8ohms so would be ALOT louder if set on 2 ohms, I need to get an amp that will do 2ohms, but again will not spend alot and it'll still sound good. And that's it. I am sure you have the same thing as me as Navi's are virtually the same as Expies. SO you have the 8" sub woofer in the back. I pulled mine and ran a converter box or its called an LOC unit by some audio shops). That way the signal from that speaker is run through the little box. Then the box converts the high wattage to low volts. Now run the remote wire from your deck and to the back.

My **** to a thief looks stock. If he steals it he can ONLY use it in a ford. Plus all he's see's is a tape deck. If you get a new deck (clarion, pioneer, JBL, etc) you WON'T be able to use the 6 disk changer anymore. You have to buy the clarion changer to be compatible and have to change more **** out. So I left mine stock. OK, then did the power and gorund myself. Ran that back to my amp and the old truck box I had (really small and jacked up) I brought in back in the house with the little pioneer IMPP 450watt speaker. But this 450watts speaker only does 150watts RMS (the consistant power). SO it sucked. The audiobahn is 400 watt rms. This particular model, so once I get an amp a bit more powerful it'll hit hard. But for now it hits hard enough.

I was talking to a lady last night and she had a tan navi. I spoke to her and showed her the system and then let her hear it. Everyone that has heard it say it sounds REALLY good. Its clear as hell, its not overly loud where it gets annoying to just turn on the radio. You can def. hear it a few car over at a stop light but they can also hear all the words. So its a nice balnce and looks stock. I did get a new box for the audiobahn. This box is a little bigger than the one I had. The thin is its a sealed box. Sealed boxes are more crisp and sound better. Ported is louder and more "sloppy". POrted boxes require MORE airspace. Space me and you DON'T have. Sealed requires less airspace but more power to make it hit. So that's what I mean, I'll look for a cheapie amp or a refurbished one I can run at 2ohm stable (more power off less wattage of the amp) and I'll be made in the shade. I was going to put 20" rims and all that but I like my vehicle and don't want to stand out overly or show off. It sounds good, looks good, and that's enough. I don't need to be the best as trying to keep up with the Jones's will make you broke. Then when you sell you vehicle its not worth much more than it was without all that crap. Thieves won't keep an eye out for your **** to steal it thinking you have alot of money inside as well as outside... *** that. I am cool.

Hey, let me go outside, grab this kids number, and he can answer all the questions you need. He installed EVERYTHING on his camaro. He even has his PS2 as the dvd player and his cd player and he can play the games. He's got it right next to his feet. then has a tv screen where your deck would go. He is getting rid of it b/c its too loud. He listens to country music (yup, this is Oklahoma and you'll notice he has an accent hardcore too) and he doesn't want it that loud. But if you don't get his (not a biggie to me I met him at the stereo place once and told me to call him if I ever run into problems. So a cool guy and I got to see how everything works in his car. You can ask him about anything you may need to know. .)


Let me take pictures of my **** and then you can see how everything looks and then you can go from there. Then I'll send you a link or two about which ones to get so you can hit for cheap but its not cheap stuff. But will be very clear....

Anyhow, I took the pictures at night ( 2 hrs ago) but you can still see it and how its set up....

**** I had his number before I came in the ****** house. ****. I have been looking for appx 25min. while I eat my corn dogs and pizza. I bet you I left it in the "truck".

This is to show the box and amp setup. The LOC unit that converts that 8" in the back I'll take a picture tomorrow of it. I forgot about it. So until tomorrow you get the deck, the amp and speaker size etc. To give you an idea. Then I'll get a picture of the LOC unit so you can buy one (Walmart $17.99) and pay the guy to install it etc. I had them do it professionally. It cost me $55 to have then run the LOC from the back speaker, run the remote wire from the deck ( you need those little tools to get it out) and to drill the hole for the fire wall for the power wire to go through the firewall and under the carpet so you don't see any wires anywhere...

I'll take a picture of that tomorrow too.
