*why dont people stunt r6's*

i searched for it but its a pain in the *** because R6 is too short of a word to search... after like 20 pages i decided to start this thread again

i know r6's have weak fairing stays, weak frames, and tend be twitchy but how come i dont see more people stunting them anyway... i find r6's goin for real cheap all the time, they feal really light and small, have good amount of power...

lookin for advice on areas to watch for and fix before stunting i guess

Re: *why dont people stunt r6's*

I have an 02 R6 and have no complaints except that it is carburated.... other then that, my bike has been through the ringer and still don't have a crack in the frame and the motor is runnin' strong with around 15000 miles on it and i started stuntin' it with about 6500 miles on it.... I don't know why so many don't like em....Fuel injection would be nice though.

Re: *why dont people stunt r6's*

Watch the left side motor mount. It will bend outwards and crack (blue arrows/lines). We solved this by using large washers, an idea a little too late as you can see its already started. The R6 frame is light duty, so just check it regularly. I think Chris has been through 4 R6's total. All have frame issues, all ended up with blown motors.

Re: *why dont people stunt r6's*

its funny cause i was just gonna post up and say my 02 r6 has had no frame prob and is taking a beating. then i checked what mikie said about the left side and sure enough theres a crack . on top of that on the ride back from the store i go to put the kickstand down and my jeans get stuck on something, it was the lower motor mount bolt sticking about 6 inches out. thank god i got the 954 sitting in the garage waiting for action. slitz i got that same gearing . works awesome on r6

I can't go anywhere in Indy with out seeing or talking to someone who either owns and stunts a R6 or they know someone that does.

Forgot to mention that I dropped off an R6 oil pan and pickup to Ryan Smith from Stuntex.com/ After the 929, the R6 will be in the line-up of Oil Pickup/Oil Sump mods.

Re: *why dont people stunt r6's*

I started on an R6, but everytime I did a stoppie it would flood and die (damn carbs) I sold it and got a GSXR750, best decision I've made in a while. I just think the gixxers are built a little stronger. However I know several people stunting R6's. I think they are fine, especially when you get better and are not slamming the bike down everyday. If someone just starting out asked me, I'd say sell the pretty R6 and get a bike that will take the abuse it's about to recieve, If they are already proficient, they wouldn't need my advice.

only reason i was askin is because its a fu(kin fact that its one of the least popular bikes in the stunt world... i know tons of people with r6's, but most just ride around pretty or hit the twisties

just hopin to get advice on areas of the bike to reinforce and things to watch for

Re: *why dont people stunt r6's*

im back on my r6 today since some ***** rear ended me 2 days ago and totaled my gix 750(woo hoo insurance!) . the r6 just has a twitchy throttle and weak bottom end,, you have to rev it way out to get any power and by that time your the craziest **** on the road other than that its a good bike i went through one motor,, definatly not the most comfotable either !!!!! still waiting to crank up da idle, maybe a super sprocket. then ill pick up a cheater, cant wait!

i dont see how its a stupid question... no one around here stunts r6's, they're one of the LEAST common bikes used to stunt. Therefore i was askin what i should watch for and maybe get some tips on things change on the bike...

thanks for fu(kin up the thread though di(k
