Im no engineering expert, but a cage or anything really is only as strong as its weakest link. I broke a BRAN NEW 905 cage on the 1ST crash, so bad that i couldnt even get the cage off i had to cut it off. Its got huge *** bulky side pieces but the bar that goes across the bottom is thin *** and actually has a section cut out of it. Bike went down doing a circle, lowside and hit that bottom corner of the cage just right that it pushed the one side in, bent the **** out of that cross bar on the bottom and pushed the cage out on the other side of the bike. never going to rock a 905 again.

 

905's are JUNK> you might as well throw it in the trash, aside from bein weak *** **** they are crazy shin bangers

I got a New 905 cage for an 03-04 636 that has been dropped 2 or 3 times and bent slightly cuz one of my own front motor mount bolts was stripped n came off. Cage will still mount up fine.

Ryan no disrespect bro ,you are the man in my book:YEAH ,but I have purchased just about every cage out there ,and from my personal experience("cause I still chunk my shiot across tha lot occasionally" ) the 905 cage was my first ,and it did protect the engine,but it broke very easily The s.i. cage takes way more abuse than any other cage ,not just 905,but f.i.&,powers 2.......just my personal opinion

the thing is......905 replaces their cages if they break!!!! FOR FREE. aaron is a stand up guy who bends over backwards for riders, it just pisses me off when threads like these are posted....the title stands out and hurts a company that is helping riders every damn day. a cage is designed for tip overs, if you plan on throwing your bike into misc walls, wrap it in bubble wrap.

first cage i ever had was a 905 and on my FIRST drop to the side it broke my whole engine casingh and cost me 2500$ in repairs so **** 905!!!!!!!!

I had two crashes from idle this weekend, and the second one busted every bolt on the left side of the cage, bent the slider back and cracked my frame. I have to laugh! LOL


I blame suzuki for makin junk cast frames on their new bikes, and myself for being such a squid...LOL, NOT the cage!
If I wouldv'e not ben riding with the slider pushed inside the cage after the first wreck, it may have had some give to it, but who stops riding after one crash??

FI let me down and that is all. Everyone has their reason to get whatever cage they are running... like, I wanted a SI, but they didn't make them for my bike at the time, and I got a good deal on my fi from a local pro rider who is a dealer too.

I'm buying a SI cuz they finally are makin them for my bike, and I'm possibly buying a new frame too!! haha


I dont' like the design of all the force coming down on one slider stickin out... I like the design of it landing on several contact points instead....

IT's pretty easy with FI.. if you want to spend your money more than once, never crash, or they are giving you free cages after they bust, then go for it... otherwise don't count on ANY cage to make up for your skills.

all my 905 stuff works for me? I can't say for the cages though, but I love their round bar... I have to agree with Ryan here.. lame thread.
