Phil at motoheaven.com get the 14/52, works great, makes the wheel turn nicely. Seriously you can still ride over a hundred if need be.

Re: R6 Clunk?

even if it's loose it sounds like there are tight spots in the chain and if there are tightening it could be a bad idea

+1....just put a DID o-ring chain on my bike , it felt like it was surging, but it had seizing links in the chain everywhere and it was just a cheap chain at the start of the year. i got a Vortex 54 on rear and -1 in the front, works great and you can notice the chain quality is worth the money for the abuse it will take!

Re: R6 Clunk?

Lube that chain and make sure you have proper tension. How many miles are on it?

Re: R6 Clunk?

R6 transmissions suck...but I think I had the only one that 2nd gear didnt go out of it...I had like 27,000 miles it.

Thats crazy if his chain and sprocket are messed up already...since that bike is practically brand new.

Re: R6 Clunk?

a 07?

If your chain and sprocket are fucked, START CLEANING AND LUBING THAT ****!

I bought my f4i in 06, with 14k miles, with stock sprocket and chain! Went to around 24k on it before I switched it out

my 2 cents

chain maintenance is much more important then a name brand vs non name brand.

I've watched a friend put a brand new DID chain on, never lube it, and 6 months ltaer the thing is solid rust and every link sticks on it..

And I've also watched a friend ride his 636 for over a year with a $30 non o-ring chain, that looked brand new after a year..

I'm personally running a cheap as **** chain right now.. $68 shipped for 120 links!

Re: R6 Clunk?

I had a buddy that had the same problem. Turned out his front sprocket was missing like 3-4 teeth from not keeping the chain properly adjusted.

something like this seems possible but by you sayin it wont roll backwards is cause for concern. ive had some fucked up chains in my day and the **** still rolled. i think you need to take your chain off and front sprocket cover and see if the front sprocket spins freely in neutral
