I've talked with MikeM over the forum in december 2009 for a 60T sprocket for my carbed F4. We settled the price for 25 usd and 50 usd for shipping to Europe, Romania.

The shipping price seemed to me a little bit high, but afterall the total cost satisfied me, so I didnt mind if the shipping was cheaper for him.

I paypaled him 75 bucks and he shipped it very quickly - at least this is what he said - the communication was ok.

I got a lot of other stuff from US over ebay and also from this forum and usually it took for like max 3 weeks to arrive to me.

Well after 1 month or so - in february - I wrote MikeM a message and I asked for a receipt from USPS. He kindly responded that his girlfriend lost it. He said that he will go to USPS and make a complain.
He went to USPS but nothing really happened. And then he said that he will file a claim to paypal. Its almost 3 months since I've paid my **** and got nothing in return. There isnt a lot of money, but it was my Christmas present - a cool sprocket to make wheelies.

It is very lame that MikeM didnt say anything until now, probably he got used with the idea that I didnt contact him lately which probably meant for him that I was ok with -(minus)one sprocket (or -75 usd in my pocket). I had to switch countries, man!

I would like you to share your opinion on this. How would you rate him? Probably he is a good guy, but all that happened - and shared above - makes me think that I got fucked!

Any chance for me to file a paypal claim ?

he may have thought it got stuck in customs for a month and then you got it so thats why you stopped contacting him , it does happen

+1 on MikeM being straight up. I ride with him now but before riding with him Ive had dealings with him and never had any issues. I highly doubt he jerked you. He's been on this forum since day 1 with not one single complaint against him that I know of. Hope you get the situation resolved but I think I agree with what OMR said - Mike probably assumed you got it since you stopped reaching out to him

 

Mike is a stand up guy and wouldn't rip anyone off. He mentioned this shipment a while back in the OMR thread because he wanted to know if anyone had trouble shipping to another country. He was trying to find out if OMR shipped internationally and had items get held up. I told him that I shipped to Kazakhstan and the package never made it past customs. I swear they must have stolen my package or lost it. It honestly happens. It sucks that this happened but I'm with OMR and Neal...I'm sure Mike assumed you got it. How would you expect him to know that you didn't get it if you never contact him?

 

I didnt say that he is not a cool guy, I was netrual about this and I didnt exclude this option too - being lost during shipping - although it might be my first time when it would have happened ... and if it was Romanian postal office I would have understood, but USPS inspired me more confidence. Anywayz ... I did not contact him because I had to move from Romania to Germany, that was the main reason.

usps only ships the package to romania then it gets turned over to romanian custom and then the romanian postal service takes over ..

 

I know that omr ... the package was sent on a boat and Mike told me that usps guys said that after the package gets on the boat its no longer in their responsibility - which seems strange to me.

 

thats how it works, even if you get a delivery confirmation # from usps it will only show delivery to your customs office then it's up to your post office ..

now if shipped by usps in the U S it will show delivery all the way to the address on the label but out of the country it doesnt ..

 

In answer to ur question, there is no way to file a PP claim after 3 months. I don't think u can file one after 1 month to be honest. Anytime I ship over seas though, I use signature confirmation for this reason. I would keep the tracking # though, like guard it with my life lol. Sux that his g/f lost it, cause now that makes u think that he's pullin ur leg. But from the other responses it looks like he's a straight up dood, he could be telling the truth. I guess u have to learn from this mistake, as well does Mike. Use signature guarantee when shipping, always keep the tracking #. When I do business with shipping the 1st thing I do when I leave the post office is e-mail the buyer the tracking #. IMO from all the good responses about Mike, I think he sipped it. But then again he did lose the tracking # so there is no way for u to track it. So I would contact him, see if he'll do a partial refund. It's just good business, not his fault it got lost, but his fault u can't do anything about it now cause no tracking #.

 

Mike's a straight up dude, you didn't get burned. Maybe you'll luck out and get it eventually but this is the reason I do not ship over seas. To much of a headache
