F4i APE Manual CCTL

To anyone who is running the APE Manual CCTL are you doing anything special to lock the nut down? or are you just cranking it on and not having any backing out problems. Thanks.

Re: F4i APE Manual CCTL

if it backs out then wont you just hear the noise again and just know its time to adjust it and tighten it up more this time??????

why is it such a threat?

Re: F4i APE Manual CCTL

I had a bitch of a time just getting a wrench in there much less being able to tighten it. I had to customize a 16mm wrench by cutting it in half to really crank it down super tight.

Re: F4i APE Manual CCTL

i just pulled the tank up, took off the air box, injectors, and what not it took me a while the first time but im sure i can do it in in a much shorter time now that i've done it once..
i stuck about an 8inch long wrench in there.. and used a 5/8 which fit perfect..

if it backs out your cam chain is gonna go lose, and skip a tooth, and bend your valves..

I do'nt think it would just back out a turn.. If it started backing out, its gonna back out all the way tell your motor blows..

And it moves FAST with the vibrations of the motor.. I know when I started my bike, and was tightening the tensoner by hand, I let go of it for a second, and it took about 3 seconds to back out 2 full turns!...
