setting up a HB for one finger

I can't have this set up right..I gotta use 2 fingers on the HB, it feels sketchy, you gotta pull so hard with 1 that its got no feel to it.

It's a 900rr master mounted on the inside of the clutch so its got some decent leverage, I'm pulling it about 3 inches down the lever. I'm using 929 clipons.
Should I use a different master that can mount further inward?

Re: setting up a HB for one finger

I use an MSR Raptor Clutch lever, with a 04 R1 radial mount master. I have the clutch on the outside and I can still lock up the rear wheel with 1 finger. If you want some pics let me know and i can take a few. On my old 929, I had a 954 master and it was harder to pull then the R1 master i have. Radial mount is deff the way to go for a handbrake as far as im concerned.

Re: setting up a HB for one finger

Get the brembo 16 x 18, it worked way better than the 1000rr for me, that master is designed to push 2 calipers, with 2 pistons each. Push one caliper and you have no mechanical advantage, kinda like using a hydraulic jack with a 1:1 ratio to lift a car, it feels solid, but there is less force behind it pushing the caliper closed. I was thinking about tryin a clutch master too, and see whats up with that, 16 was the smallest I could find. the 16 got me from pulling with 3 fingers, down to one or 2. 14mm would probly lock it up with 1 finger all day long on my bike.

Re: setting up a HB for one finger

look at the pics in post #13, you need to get FI clipons and then mount the HB inside of the fork leg/clipon. use a FULL lever and adjust it so you can grab the end of it. read the rest of that thread.

Re: setting up a HB for one finger

i just got some FI clip-ons today. Need to put them on asap, but i run a dual caliper with a 1000rr master on stock clip-ons. I can't even compare that master to my old gsxr 1000 master...BIG difference

Re: setting up a HB for one finger

I think the diff is that the vortex clips have angled bars, while the FI ones have 0 degree angle. I'm gettin a set of FI ones soon

Re: setting up a HB for one finger

funny thing is Yesterday after work my right clip-on broke in a sitdown idle wheelie.. what a quincie dink... clutched it up caught idle n SNAP had to hop off and spin it arround like a ballarina 460 degrees, i could have been way worse if it broke 2 minutes before that in a 50 mph stoppie or on the freeway home when i whould have been rockin a spreader on the highway... F u c k yamaha stock clip-ons
