Re: learn 12s the easist way???

You must master the brake control first, or you are going to flip. If you scared, practice on a quad. I first learned brake control on a quad, it helps, and you wont trash your bike.

When you are ready to 12, you will know it.

12 isn't something you just, dip back and hope it all goes right.. I mean you can, but thats not controlled...

Get smooth riding balance point, get smooth doing coasters, and when you want, just let the bike back a little and start scraping.

I have a 12 bar on my bike, but I'm starting to dig round bars.. Other then the fact 1 session and I wore through about 1/3 of my friends SI round bar

i second that. i saw my boy popping an '03 ex 250 up like whoa.

when i first went to "practice" i would pop it up,trying to catch idle, well at first, trying to find that spot,i wouldn't be on the throttle much at all, covering the clutch with my finger, and when my 12 bar scraped i just pulled in the clutch and stepped off, standing behind my bike.i had a 60 tooth sprocket so i was hardly moving and the momentum stopped after a foot.i also did not know how to cover the brake so it is only fair to say i learned to rely on engine brake and clutch.probly totally bass ackwards but it worked for me and don't recomend it.

Re: learn 12s the easist way???

Have you learned the rear brake?
If you have just dump back onto the 12 bar and roll away?

Re: learn 12s the easist way???

definetly not as easy as i thought. i've been riding wheelies for probably 6 to 7 years, (no slow technical stuff) so i just got enough $ to put together a stunt bike since i've had all new bikes before. went out lastnite and just said fuck it i'm gonna try it. my bike's all set up...so i went to the stunt lot...first gear stand up and it came up hit the throttle to have it come back up and mashed on the handbrake...WRONG...slammed down flipped right over the bars...rashed up a little nothing much...somehow with a cage and 905 stunt pegs (almost stick out longer than the cage) the front brake lever snapped off. other than that it was fine. gonna go try some more here soon...i guess practice practice practice?
