taping yourself?

anyone ever have a buddy video tape you while you are learning a stunt then re-watching it to see what you are doing wrong/right? ive heard that this is a good method to get over the fear of having the front tire up on wheelies. im curently working on 2nd gear stand ups and still getting used to having the wheel up, and im thinkin about havin a buddy tape me so i can see how high i am/body position, etc. good idea? bad idea? any thoughts...

Re: taping yourself?

taping works, a lot of people do it. it shows your mistakes. people think they are doing something they really aren't. i thought i was a lot higher on stoppies til i watch my tapes.

a lot of sports do this. i did it in diving also to see what i was doing wrong. good method of learning.

Re: taping yourself?

My buddy said he learned to keep his front wheel higher in a wheelie by riding next to me. It helped him balance out and realize how much higher he could take it. Last time we rode he was hitting up 3 miles on the highway!! Dont know if that method would help for endo's, but side-by-side worked for him and wheelies.

Re: taping yourself?

yep, my girl taped me last week for the first time. lol, lets you see all of your mistakes. I thought i was up high, and Im no where near to being up high with the front wheel. But now I know, that will just let me know that i still have room to work with and lets me see all other mistakes. Plus listen to the throttle and know I can wack it more to get it up... :YEAH

Re: taping yourself?

i think that riding with/next to other people who are better and can wheelie long distance is better than video tapes. only because you can change your stance and stuff AS you watch them.

Re: taping yourself?

we just started video taping ourselves doing wheelies. to say the least it was very humbling, but it did show us we have a lot more room to play with. i say get to video taping it helped us a ton.

Re: taping yourself?

I thought that you ment taping yourself, as using duct tape to as protection... yep, but i know taping helps, couple of times have been using just d-cameras mpeg ability, it enough to show some friends when they don't believy you that they are only 10cm high. Gets away that 'I'm gonna loop it' additude.

Re: taping yourself?

It's good to videotape yourself in case you crash. This way you can show everybody instead of just telling the story.
