problem with standups

problem with standups

ive just started rocking standups and they are killing my calfs where they hit the tail... ive tried standing more forward but i lose my balance with nothing to hold my legs... what should i do my legs are all brusied up

My friend said he does that too. I have gotten consistent with the bounce and have never hit my leg on the bike. Maybe it's your technique??? Oh I see you have a R6 so does he, those tail sections must buldge out more.

If you think the R6 is bad, try hoikin' a standup on the new Triumph Daytona 600. I've been riding one of those for the past few weeks, and I swear, it's got a tailsection by Ginzu. The key to bruise-free standups, I've found, is to get all cowboy on that bad boy--bring it up bow-legged, with your *** lower and your legs bowed outward so you don't touch the tail when you yank it up. Then, as the bike up to the BP, straighten your legs and adjust your body position. That way you're only leaning against the knife edges when the bike is already up (no bruises) instead of pushing hard against it when it's coming up (big bruises). It might be a little tougher--with your *** lower you need more throttle, so the bike comes up harder and closer to your body and is a bit harder to stop at BP smoothly. But after a few tries you'll get used to it. Feels kind of cool, actually, like you're really wrestling with the bike, arms bent and the bike closer in to your chest...

Remember your rear brake.
