Custom stunt frames
Re: Custom stunt frames
an example is any where on a gsxr....lol i seen a kid around here get in a wreck. Forks didnt bend but destroyed the plastics broke the upper yada yada. The frame just snapped in clean right through the weld. Ive heard of a motor dropping straight to the ground on one to. Guessing the frame cracked on the inside and dude didnt see it? But not only did he buy a frame had to get another motor, header, and so on....
Re: Custom stunt frames
I watched a squid loop out a 08 GSXR 750 at around 50mph and the bike was destroyed. It flipped a couple of times and when it was done the motor broke out of the frame, the forks broke off where the neck snapped through the welds, subframe snapped off, and the swingarm broke off. I have seen many similar wrecks, but never have I seen a bike break into pieces at that speed.
Re: Custom stunt frames
Subframes break more than frames, and yet not that many people even have a steel subframe.. And most people that do now have a steel subframe didn't buy 1 until there stock was already broke.
I think Street fighters would look better with a tube style frame though.

Re: Custom stunt frames
I've looped out a low speed sitdown, broke the upper which was understandable and a bunch of plastic which was understandable. I've then locked the front tire at 40 mph and had the bike skid on it's bare side sending sparts, picked it up and drove it too the hospital all it had was a busted radiator cap. I've learned idle on it, so very hard lowspeed drops on the front end, never busted a fork or had any frame problems. Also learned high speed whoolies on it too so I had plenty of first gear power wheelie drops with no problem.
Guess I got a good one....

Re: Custom stunt frames
sounds like a great idea but problem is $ and greed.
the dude probly wont sell them for 1 grand. hell try and get 3 for them and therefore they wont sell. people just mark stuff up way too much. i could never understand how a cage sells for 250 bucks when its 5 bucks worth of steel.

It's a lot more then $5 worth of steel.. Plus paying a powdercoater, experience, labor, and originally taking the time to design a good cage, it adds up.
If it's just $5 of steel why don't you produce them and sell them for cheaper and make good money?
Re: Custom stunt frames
Only problem is all the newer bikes are coming with weak cast subframes to save money and weight, at the cost of strength
Re: Custom stunt frames
would one of these examples happen to be the weld at the neck of the frame?
I have a 06 gsxr I stunt and so far have not had any problems and have had some pretty hard drops with it...maybe I'm lucky an got one that was properly welded buuuut I wouldnt mind some bracing at the neck weld just incase...unless it's just gunna crack anyways
. I've had an f4i to learn on and it WAS very easy to work with but the gsxr is much more unique an so much better looking of a bike. Warren James stunts the **** outta one, so does Scotty, and a few others. I don't worry bout my subframe so much because I don't run a bar, just the stock tail plastic so I just let that scrape and bend all day lol...doesn't look pretty but **** it.

Re: Custom stunt frames
steel is the way to go its cheeper and easy to modify. say you get one of these stunt frames and yard sale the **** into a curb its gona bend or crack. if its made of steel it can be bent back and or welded with ease with no worries of breaking again. i think the idea is stout and worth a shot but it is the stunt comunity and wer all broke so 1500 to 2000 is gona have to be the range of the price to make any sales. O and title is a must

stunters are not going to pay 3gs for a frame. they have enough trouble paying 300 for a good cage. you'd be better off having this guy modify the frame by adding gussets or bridges, etc.thanks jotted this down for further looking into.

Re: Custom stunt frames
hey thats not nice... i crash on the regular and my bike holds up fine, hell a few weeks ago i looped 7 times in one weekend... and ive wrecked hard on the streets before to... and I got a FI cage
my frame and subframe have held up well... probably just have been getting lucky and jinxed myself tho lol but my bike has held up as good as, if not better then my friends with r6's 636s and rr's as far as takin a beating...the one pic is my delrin sheered the bolt and drove itself inside the steel, from the bike gettin away from me scrapin
