Shinda Daytona Steering Stabilizer

Shinda Daytona Steering Stabilizer

Hey

I am a new stunter and I plan on learning wheelies. A fellow stunter recommended getting a steering stabilizer.

What are you thoughts on a USED shinda daytona steering stabilizer?

it fits my bike (a vtr1000). Since its a vtwin I wont be able to do long wheelies without frying my engine....he is want a 110$ for it ? is this a good damper? is this a good price? is this something that can put in without too much of mechanical inclination..i am not very good but I can hold a screwdriver and wrench right side up.

Please let me know abt this. I would appreciate it.

Cheers

the damper... any rod type damper tends to leak. i've had 6 different ones and the gpr or scotts is hands down the best.at least thats my 2cents. the bikes fine just not a very good stunter. you'll be pissed when you blow it up...sooooo..sell it and buy a stunter before your out the dough you can get for it now...again my 2 cents

Dial ones can leak also, I've seen BRAND NEW gpr's leak

Not saying daytona dampers are good, but ohlins are good dampers IMO..

It's just luck of the draw with dampers.. Some have play, some leak, and some are perfect.

Nothing wrong with a rod ramper tho IMO

well...let me make this clear...atleast right now ..i am not learning to do wheelies for miles together...i want to lift the wheel up ...hold it there till the end of the parking lot and drop it ......i understand that since i have carbs i will blow it up if i keep it up longer......so given the simplicity of my level ....can i manage with this damper?

Re: Shinda Daytona Steering Stabilizer

Another quesiton:

Lets say I buy this from this guy

1) Is there anyway I can check if it leaks before i put in on the bike ?

2) If it starts leaking after I put it on the bike, is there a fix to it?
if there is a fix, can i implement the fix without taking the bike apart again?

Please let me know abt this
cheers

Theres no way except to run it

some start leaking right away if htey were built shitty, some leak 6 monthsl ater, some last a few years

Its just luck of the draw.. IF they leak right away, its a factory defect that you might get fixed for free

Whenever they do start leaking though, most higher end dampers, are rebuildable by the factory

Also for slow speed wheelies, you don't need a damper. As long as your not breaking 50mph, you wont need a damper at all.

Only need to worry about a damper for endo's , and high speed wheelies.
