Isn't 2nd gear on that bike good for around 100 with stock gearing? How fast do you plan on going when you bring it up?

2nd gear, stand up or stagger, clutch, and then roll it down the highway. Thousands of people have done it years before now on lesser bikes, you can do it.

This thread could have been answered with one word, PRACTICE.

 

:YEAH i can rock 3rd gear 35-40mph standups all day long.. i've got a 60 tooth on a f4i, in 3rd it just seems less peppy... bp with no hand brake!! need 1 if any one has a r1 master cylinder they'ed like to get rid of for cheap?????? got the HoHey already..

 

Check ebay they usually have good ones for pretty cheap.

Back in 01 or maybe early 02 I had an F3 and 2nd gear was going out. I was bitching about not being able to wheelie at highway speed anymore. I couldn't bring the bike up in 3rd. It would almost get there, but not quite, and this was back in the bounce/power wheelie days.

My best friend ******* schooled me...he gets on it and I'm driving his jeep, he's getting it up in 3rd no problem, then knee in the seat clutch+bounce he's bringing it up in 4th around 100mph after a little practice. ******* owned on my own bike. Oh, that bike was down one in the front, but had around 85K miles on it at the time.

This was prior to anyone I knew attempting to bounce wheelies up at deep triple digit speeds.

Miss that guy, he passed away last December.

 

i call bullshit on that bike being geared -1, im pretty sure i saw a video of that bike somewhere else with a big *** sprocket on it.

ok i tried again today i went 30-40 mph reved it to 10 dumped the clutch and all i get is a bunny hop around 6 inches and o ya i bouced it too.

 

why do you want to do 4th or 5th gear whoolies? if your stock gearing, put it in 1st, pull it up to bp, and ride it for miles! remember if you cant use your brake very well to control your whoolies, than you better keep your bike in a lower gear because engine brake will be your friend!

my 2001 R1 will clutch up in 3rd at 120mph.

maybe coz australia is upside down to begin with makes it easier.

 

Time your jounce and rebound right with the release of the clutch. It's kind of hard to explain, but let the front end come up to you (after rebound try to keep weight off the bars).

 

Just a thought but hows the bike running? I belive it said you had an F4 if so when was the last time you had it jetted? Due to the weahter change maybe your bike is running sick and you have a loss of power.

 

What do you mean the last time i had it "jetted"? it runs perfectly fine when warmed up. I kinda burnt up my clutch pretty good practicing drifting. when i dump the clutch it feels like the clutch slips then the bike comes up slow and smoothly but doesnt come right up like first. but in first gear it doesnt feel like it slips but my tire slips sometimes though so i dont think its the clutch. i dont have work tomorrow so im gonna go out and practice practice practice! I NEVER done 2nd gear before I ALWAYS done 1st gear wheelies cause thats what you guys told me to start with. now i can wheelie 1st i want to wheelie 2nd so i can ride it at higher speeds...like highways
