Re: plz help me with 1st bike choices

All of those are good choices, you definately have the right idea. I'm preferential to Yamaha, but other people have other likes. Go for what you like(looks etc...) Main thing here is to learn how to ride and get some experience. Oh yeah, welcome to SL

If you have to choose from one of those it would be the cbr 600 but there are alot of better choices out there, unless you want to keep changing bikes as you progress... and WELCOME!!!!

93 CBR F2 was my first sport bike and it was a blast. Geared down, slip-on, sticky tires, lots of fun. Traded it on a ZX-6R when they first came out in 95 and regretted it. The old F2 had better midrange power anyway...good for wheelies.

FIRST OFF WELCOME TO STUNTLIFE. AND SECOND OFF I STARTED ON A YAMAHA 600 AND STILL HAVE IT AM CURRENTLY TALKING TO PEOPLE TRYING TO TURN IT INTO A STUNT BIKE. BUT ANYWAYS I HAVE A FRIEND WHO GOT A 97 (SAME YEAR AS MY SIX) CBR 600 F3 AND IT IS A GREAT BIKE HE IS JUST LEARNING BASICS AND ONLY PAID 1800.00 FOR THE THANG AND IT LOOKS GREAT AND RUNS EVEN BETTER. JUST TRY TO BUY A GOOD USED CBR THAT WILL RUN FOR TWO SUMMERS. I RODE FOR THREE YEARS AND STEPPED UP TO A 900 RR AND I LOVE IT AND I FEEL CONFIDENT WHILE RIDING ALL THANX TO MY P.O.S. YAMAHA 600. HOPE THIS HELPS.

BY THE WAY CHECK OUT THIS WEBSITE. WWW.NWABIKES.COM ITS ALOT OF PEOPLE FROM HERE IN NORTH WEST ARKANSAS. GO HOGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: plz help me with 1st bike choices

i agree. i would NOT recommend the gs 500. i handles like a shopping cart. if you want under 600cc to start off with, i'd add a yamaha FZR 400 to the list. it's smaller than the FZR 600 in engine capacity and physical size, but handles awesome. plus, the resale value (in Canada anyway) for those is awesome, cause people are always looking for a small starter. i'm all for the idea of starting on something that you're only gonna keep one season, then figure out what you really want. plus, if you get bored of the power of the 400, and FZR 600 motor bolts right in to the FZR 400 frame. good luck

Re: plz help me with 1st bike choices

i learned everything on a 1997 cbr f3 and that was the perfect bike for me to learn on. it was good enough to hang with my boys when we went on the freeway but forgiving and underpowered enough to keep me out of trouble for the most part. the cbr 900 is also a good bike to get and both the f3 and the 900rr are tanks.

p.s. all bike ride the same at 45mph it is the rider with the cocky attitude that gets himself into trouble on the powerful bikes.

Re: plz help me with 1st bike choices

I hope this is your first street bike and not first bike all together...In my opinion you need to play in the dirt before you *** with the asphalt.Street riding is alot more dangerous people jsut dont give a $hit anymore and road rage is everywhere. Not saying you jsut can't start on a streetbike but there not very forgiving.Go get yourself a 125 or 250 to learn on.

On the other hand if your moving up to street I say the f3 or old gixxer is a nice bike to ride.Honda's hold there value and are all aroudn good bikes imo.

I just bought the 04 GSXR 600 limited edition for my first bike, I have very little riding experience, only a couple of days on a dirtbike and five minutes on a YZF 600R, the first day, take it slow and your expertise will double every 30 minutes. after being on it a month it feels like second nature
