handbrake help?

i have an 02 gsxr 600 with an 04gsxr master cyclinder, steel braided lines, and gp tech simple handbrake adapter. the claiper is only a 1 piston. ive got it all hooked up but when i use the handbrake its not a grabby as the foot brake. i cant lock up the rear like i can with the foot brake or even get it to bring me back from past balance point with one finger. my question is, with an adapter is this normal or do i need to bleed the brakes more to get it as grabby as the rear foot pedal.

Re: handbrake help?

this might help you....... its from a pm i sent a dude who bought one of my HB's i sold a while back, who wasnt sure how to bleed his HB.

yeah man sorry about not getting back to you. i dont get emails when i'm pmed on SR. im goining to change that.
heres all the info i can give you on bleeding brakes and bleeding hand brakes. hope it helps.

here a lot of info for you. the thread below is one of the better "how to's" that i have found, and it helped me a lot when i fisrst started needed to do thing years back!!!
http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcyc...cle-brakes.htm

also i always have a freind help me bleed brakes. its way easier.
i also use a handheld automotive vacuum pump at the bleeder valve to assit me with the bleed. and i tap the master, line and caliper with a screwdirver, socket wrench, or metal object buring and in btween bleeding. i bleed and bleed..... ride a bit and bleed again.
i run a hohey 4 piston set up, but remember your handbrake is only as good as you bleed it.
check out this thread too. it has some good info.

heres a post on here ..... the owner of full throttle......... Bill McMahon.
http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/443-...st-little.html (** How to get the last little bit of air out of your handbrake **)

heres some other helpful how to's
http://k808.blogspot.com/2007/06/is-...do-or-how.html

heres some how to's right off of full thottles web site
http://www.fullthrottleinc.net/origi.../techpage.html

here another method i saw on stunt life....... sometimes i use this method sometimes a few days or week after i bleed my brakes.
http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/2-st...leed+handbrake (best/easiest way to bleed a handbrake system)

hope this helps bro!!!!

Re: handbrake help?

flip your handbrake back wards so its up straight.......then bleed it. its hard to bleed those systems with the handbrake upside down

Re: handbrake help?

probably the combination of using a cheap master cylinder, with an adapter

I currently run a 1000rr radial master with a junction valve on my f4i, and my hand brake sucks ass. Wont lock the rear wheel unless I pull in the clutch and use ALL my force

Also anothing thing you gotta consider, your pushing with your FOOT on the foot brake, and ONE finger on the hand brake.. Try activating your foot brake with 1 finger, probably doesn't work so well

Re: handbrake help?

why do you have a single piston caliper on a 02 gsxr ?its supposed to be a 2 piston or did you 4get to bleed the inside piston

+1 ive had a master like the original poster is using and it blows you just have to get used to it, then i got a 1000rr master and works pretty good a little stronger than the non radial shit...now im building a new bike and ive got a FTi Dual quad setup with the 1000rr (so far, planning on a brembo or magura 16mm soon).

That's what my plan is, except making my own bracket for a 4 piston hand brake setup with my 1000rr

still running my shitty adapter and 1000rr master together, sucks ass, I think it's definitely holding me back. My friends brembo and 4 piston his 636 is fucking BOSS

Yea my Hand brake wasnt holding me back but the F4 sure was trying to concentrate on not stalling and trying to stay in bp and all that gets to be a pain in the ass.

Cant wait to get my f4i together
