1 Down 9 Up

For those who wanted to know...May 15, 2004 Gregg and myself went to Atlanta for the NHRA event with Thew and Kevin "ASJ". We showed up for the event on Saturday and afterwords went to practice at one of the local spots. During practice the bike got away from me and fell over. The chain got a hold of my glove and sucked my hand in between the chain and back sprocket. Fron there I remember looking up at Gregg saying, "I'm ****ed, I'm ****ed, we got to go!" I then pulled my glove off, fingers were dangling and off to the hospital we went. The pain was okay and everything was fine until the doctor had me sign the release stating he might have to amputate...that's when reality set in and tear fell. They shot me up, went to surgery, and woke up with one finger gone and one jacked up. I am waiting for the pins to come out and rehabe to start and we will see from there. Wanted to say "thanks" to everyone that was there, you know who you are, and for all those who called with there concerns.

Normally I'm not one for simpathy, but there were alot that wanted to know what happened, so here it is...

Re: 1 Down 9 Up

sucks to hear bro. I had my hand almost get jacked up in my chain after a watchtower stalled and then cranked back up with my glove stuck in the chain, luckily my body killed the bike when it sucked me up in the tire.

You got the skillz to make it happen, wish you the best recovery and can't wait to see you back out there tearing it up.

Re: 1 Down 9 Up

yo its greg from ct. I was at the spot riding with kevin when you and gregg rolled up from jacksonville at like 2 in the morning. It was cool to ride with you guys for a while. Me and mark from team risk were gonna fill in for ya at the show but marks front rim was smoked and I had just gone from a 62 tooth gear to a 51 tooth and was not used to it yet.

That is bull**** that you lost a finger! what a freak thing. I guess we all have to realize in this sport anything can happen at anytime. I just heard about cbo's wreck just now and don't like the sound of it. I stalled a highchair stoppie once and flew over the windscreen and got ran over by the bike. It fell onto my lower back. I could not stand up and thought I was paralized.I was screaming like a little bit**. After the xrays it was just a contusion and I was walking a week later and stunting 2 weeks later. I was thinking about not riding anymore until a friend told me not to give up something I love to do
because something freak like this happens. Don't give of the struggle guy!
heal up. I just hope its not your clutch finger? :YEAH

Re: 1 Down 9 Up

fahq! it's been a tough couple weeks for the stunt industry

hurry up and heal. get back on the bike and bring me a cup of circus to town.

i've had some close calls w/ chains before, and can't imagine how shitty that must have been.
