Ice Wraps for Sportbikes 3 Attachment(s) Not sure about the rules in here. If this is a no-no, sorry. Just so you all know, I am now making wraps for the sportbike ice tires. They are the same as my dirtbike wraps, just tailored to fit sportbike wheels. I use 1000 Denier Cordura that has a Eurethane coating and line it with 20k tensile strength strapping. Because the wraps are difficult to start on a smooth tire, I replaced the traditional starting loop with a strap that goes all the way around the rim. The end closure strap is the same. They are $75/set and they fit perfectly. Thanks to RyanS for letting me use his wheel to design from. Re: Ice Wraps for Sportbikes what the hell are they for? |
Re: Ice Wraps for Sportbikes They look very nice. Good job.
what the hell are they for?
To keep your studs/screws sharp and cover them up so you don't cut yourself. |

Re: Ice Wraps for Sportbikes the MINUTE you roll your Ryan S studded ice tire over concrete, they will be junk....the weight bends the "edge" over on the screw, it may not look dull....but you will notice on the ice that it is indeed dull.......these wraps are designed for sportbike rims and tires, it's nice to finally get away from trying to used dirtbike tire wraps that don't fit over half the tire! |
Re: Ice Wraps for Sportbikes Absolutely. Ice tires need to be handled like "fine china". I wince every time I see a naked stud peeking from beneath a wrap. The better you protect your studs, the longer they will last. My ice tires are on their third season, looking forward to their fourth. |
Re: Ice Wraps for Sportbikes Very nice Tammy. These are just as nice, if not nicer than your standard ice wraps i'm sure. |

Re: Ice Wraps for Sportbikes A few years ago I studded the tires on my XR 100. Seconds after I was done, I allowed Drunk Adam to do a burnout on my garage floor. So that was bad??? |
