She's almost done...

I posted a while back about the bike Ive been workin on for the past year. Its an 89 FZR 600, yeah I know not your most popular bike. BUT.... I have done alot to the bike while it was on the road over the years and I figure screw it, the motor's fine and its paid off. Why not stunt it out, its old who care's?

Well. a small project turned into a full custom jobber. Like one of ther other guys in this forum, I hacked off ther tail section and swapped it with an '01 R6 tail. But I added my own flavor....I made my own undertail and added an SV1000S tail light to it. Welded up a damn sweet 12 bar and bolted it to the braced frame. I finished the paint a fiew months back and its been sleeping since then.

In another one of my ebay spending spree's I was like screw it, I dont like the skinny a$$ back tire or the chinsey swingarm. So I ordered up an '04 R6 rear swingarm and suspention along with a back rim to match. I just got the suspention the other day in the mail and Im awaiting the rim still. Over the summer I odered an '03 R6 front suspention and '01 R1 front calipers to throw on aswell.

Just to get a taste of what it looked like b4 and what it looks like now here you go. Ill update the pictures when I mount the new R6 stuff :apimp .

Lemme know what you think..

Oh yeah, it only cost me $100 for the swingarm, linkage, shock, chain, chain guard, and swingarm blot where it mounts to the frame.

Very nice work, the bike looks good. How was your frame done? Looks sweet

shaved head, valve job, stage 3 jet kit, full V&H exhaust, exhaust tuning kit, shift kit... Lets just say back in '02 when it was on the road last, I tapped the tail light a fiew times. Its a spitting image of the YZF 600 motor (NOT R6). The only difference between the two motor's is the head. On the YZF there a motor mount on the head, on the FZR head there isnt. So Basically I did up a YZF and shaved 100lbs off of it, its an all aluminum frame and not steel.

I got sick and tired of polishing it over the years so I used an air tool with a plain old cleaning disk on it to give it a back ground effect. Then I spray'd it with a translucent Candy apple blue with pearl, and covered it with about 6 coats of clear.

lol, its just a stiffer spring on the inside shift linkage and needle bearing on a shifter arm inside behind the clutch basket

Re: She's almost done...

so it clicks into gears harder.. interesting... guess it's harder to miss shift that way

Yep, I love it. Ive never missed ashift with it in. Soon as I pull the shifter it throw's it right in gear every time.
