Re: Moto GP bike hp

the kawisaki'z and ducatis, were the most powerful bikes on the grid.

they just never had good rider's actually.

no matter how much hp your street bike could get, it will never compare to a gp bike.... all the moving parts in it, are lighter than most of the parts you could buy, etc. etc.

impressive stuff.... i caint wait to see the 800cc's do work:YEAH

Re: Moto GP bike hp

Factory R&D claim they can easily get 330+ hp out of the motors but there is no need for it since the tires can't handle it. Hayden's '06 (might have been 05) Repsol bike was 230 or 240 hp I can't remember which.

Those bikes cost a team around 5 million for the the season and they have to return the bike at the end of the season. That was up until like 2005-06, I have no idea if they've changed the arrangement since then.

You have the option of leasing or buying the technology and I don't know where you're making up that cost but the number is no where near that. Especially for leasing the technology which is what you're talking about when you say they have to return the bike at the end of the season.

i saw this moto gp bike for 80k

dizzie56 03-12-2007 02:23 PM

Re: Moto GP bike hp

i was just wonderin how the two would compare. i dont really have the 10k or so to drop on a turbo, and even if i did im sure that i would have to drop alot more just to make sure that the engine's parts didnt explode after a nice day of ridin some twisties. im sure that stock parts probably couldnt handle that much hp for to long with out having to be replaced.

Anybody see Rapp win the Daytona 200 for Bike Week?

Not saying he isn't a damn good rider, but almost the entire Honda team dropped out of the race b/c they mis-calculated fuel. They all went dry about a 1/2 of a lap before pitting I believe on lap 24. Duhamel was the favorite and he would have RAPED Rapp for sure if he wouldn't have run out of gas.

Yeah I would venture to guess that the new 800's put out close to 220+Hp. I know a lot of people that say they've seen 300+Hp Gixxers out there that put out more Hp's but the problem remains on how to put that power to the ground. I am sure the tires can handle it. Heck last year the Yammies in MotoGP had terrible problems with early chassis' because the Michelin's had too much traction and they were having problems mid-corner with awful chatter. If you have never experienced chatter it is hard to explain. It's like a deep vibration that is hard to chase down because anyone of 100 things can be going wrong or it can be a simple click of the compression adjuster so you never know.

Re: Moto GP bike hp

And on the last comment about Honda misjudging the fuel for the 200 was a myth. It had nothing to with not having enough fuel it had to do with a venting problem that their dry-break system wasn't working correctly. No venting of fuel it will all of a sudden seem like ot has run out of fuel. Miguel almost had his bike restarted when his bike shut-down. I believe he pressed down on the dry-break to let air in but it was a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

Story here.
http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Mar/070314c0.htm

Pic of Honda crew draining the left over fuel out of Miguel's bike after they got it back into the paddock. Almost a 1 half gallon left.

I dont think front end chatter has anything to do with rear traction??
