type of paint probably not the right forum but i want to know. im about to paint my bike gun metal and anodize everything on it that can be black, i want to know should i use acrylic paint or should i use laquer? has anyone here every painted there own bike? |
Re: type of paint Painting your bike? You mean metal/frame or plastics/fairings? I used Rust-oleum on my crash cage and on the inside of the OEM windsreen and it worked great for both. Not sure I would try it on actual fairings though. |

Re: type of paint 1 Attachment(s) I used some decent stuff from Autozone. You can't tell from more than a couple feet away. |
Re: type of paint If u want it to look good u need to go with a two stage paint like PPG or House of Kolor if u have the dough. If ur good u can make acrylic enamle look okay but not as good as two stage. I have no experience with laqure. Post up some pics when u get it done. :cheers |
Re: type of paint My next step is to go half way professsional and buy auto spray paint from wal-mart then go over with a few coats of clear enamel. i used it to paint a few dashboard pieces in my old truck. the tip sprays a neat flat stream and the paint doesn't run easily. |
Re: type of paint You can get awesome results from the rattlecan shit if you do a few coats of clear then wetsand, polish, and wax. I've seen an R6 tail on an old FZR and they guy painted it with rattlecan. I swear looking an inch away I could not tell it wasn't factory. It takes a ton of time and patience, but luckily not lots of money. |
