04 636 wont shift out of first ok so i cant pin point the problem im not sure if its the external linkage that could be the problem (doesnt look bent) or if the internal shift forks and shift drum are messed up any input would help |
Re: 04 636 wont shift out of first If the external linkage is bent it will definitely cause this problem |
Re: 04 636 wont shift out of first Has it been dropped in a way the gear pedal could have been hit? If so you could have damaged your shift/detent plate/mechanism even If it looks good. My other guess would be worn/bent selector forks from being thrashed... How many k's(miles?)does it have on the clock? Either way it sounds pretty sinister and your better off opening her up. Start by taking off the clutch cover/clutch and seeing the shift/detent mech in action. If you can't find any problem there your probably going to have to pull your engine out... Good luck |
Re: 04 636 wont shift out of first Is the bike moving when trying to shift into 2nd? It won't shift into second unless the back wheel is moving. |
Re: 04 636 wont shift out of first could be your clutch plates |
Re: 04 636 wont shift out of first Replace the shift lever and linkage, I had the same issue and that was my solution. |
