929 front end on f4i problem PICS

2 Attachment(s)
From what I was told on a previous thread there is no modification to the stops needed....after picking up the bike yesterday I read a lil more into it and noticed that something must not be right cause the lower tripple is hittin the frame and has cracked it....I have another frame Im gonna paint and do it up over winter but want to make sure I take care of this b4 it happens again on the other frame....any suggestions on this and why it would do this and what I can do? What bearings are you guys running on the 929/f4i front ends, would that be a problem?:shruggs

the frame cracked on its own,had nothing to do with the forks. As long as you got full or close to full steering your good, just get the frame welded and reenforced

Re: 929 front end on f4i problem PICS

It cracked because the lower tripple is hittin that part of the frame when the bars are turned, it has full steering and then some, the bar will turn until the lower hits the frame and Im not understanding since no1 else with a 929 front end is having this problem:banghead

the steering stops on the lower triple may be broken off. the swap is just a straight swap. i threw a 954 front end on no problem. i dont even think i changed the races in the frame.

if the frame cracked from just the triples hitting the frame when you turned then you wouldn't be able to drop your bike or even wheelie. i think tanus is right

guys im tellin you it cracked because of the lower tripple are hitting the frame when the wheel it completely turned, Im not sure this is a 929 lower on here, right when the lower stops hit the frame stops the lowers are already touching the frame.....does anyone have a pic of lower 929 tripples?

you might have a 1000rr triple on it. i know they hit when turned all the way. or like i said the stops may be ground down, or broke off. if you can get a couple more pics of the stops and ill try and get a few pics of what mine looks like. 929/954 triples are the same.

bump.....so from the cut marks on the lower its not a 929 or 954 lower, why its crackin the frame also....does anyone have any idea what lower this is? Im going to order a 954 lower ($125:banghead ) and was just curious what this one was

Re: 929 front end on f4i problem PICS

it looks like a 929/954 one. it just looks like the bars got slammed into the frame. possibly from a tank slapper.

Yeah after searching all day on this I found a pic of a 929 lower and seen it was the same (only the ones on my bike have been cut/grinded down for some reason) they still dont seen right to me so I guess Imma order a new lower and get the stops on the frame welded:banghead

Re: 929 front end on f4i problem PICS

just get that frame reinforced. the new lower may not do anything, do the stops still hit the stops on the frame, or are they to low.

they are low, they may be rounded off a bit, I guess from the tank slapper or whatever caused it.....when the stops on the lower hit the stops on the frame the lower is already touchin the frame,,,,,I had a fewother things in mind for a fix also......put self taping screws in the stops on the frame to add more to the stop (if that makes sence) or have a shop or somewhere weld the stops up on the frame and lower

how much clearence (from the lower to the frame) do you have when the stops on you lower hit the stops on the frame
