GSX-R fuel pump not making noise so it won't start.
 

Hopefully someone can help out. When I turn my bike on and flip the engine cut off switch to turn the fuel on, their is no noise. It clicks letting me know that the tip over sensor is fine but the fuel pump does not come on. I've checked all the wires, all the fuses, everything seems fine.

I rode it home one night, then the next morning I had problems. Took everything apart to notice the wires going to the rectifier were burnt out at the connector right before the regulator. I didn't replace the connector but I did splice the wires.

Is there anyway I can rig something up directly from the fuel pump w/ a switch or something just to get the bike started and to the shop? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i have a 00 750 and i had to jump the wire coming out of the computer that grounds the fuel pump when you hit the key and jump it straight to ground on the battery, it runs constantly but i have been riding that way for a year

I was never good at determining which one is the ground. When hooking up neons to my dimmer switch, I ended up hooking them up to the hot wire, it ran for awhile but in the long run, it ended up burning the switch out. So I ask, how do you determine the ground?

its in the repair book, i'm sure its different for yours, if you can get the ground wire from under the pump and use a scotchlock and some wire and ground it to the battery just to make sure thats the problem, i had to get a new harness and my computer fried thats why i had to do it to mine, i still havent put them in yet because the way i have it works well. if you run it that way be careful when you turn your key the pump will no be timed, in other words it wont go buzzzzzzzz and stop it will keep going, thats fine as long as the bike is running but if you fall or stall it you have to restart it fast or hit the kill switch so you dont flood the bike

I appreciate your help. There are 4 wires from the fuel pump. Two of them run to the fuel level indicator light. The other two, Y/R goes to the fuel pump relay, all of the fuel injectors and ECM. B/W connects with side stand switch, gear pos. sensor, speedo sensor, etc, and has 3 connections to the ECM. Any ideas on the ground?

i can check tommorrow morning but i think it was yellow, dont cut wires on my memory or anything.

Alright, I connected a wire from the fuel pump ground wire straight to the battery ground and nothing. Any other ideas, I just want to get it started again.

It has not started in a few months, so should I change the oil now, or wait until I get it started and then change it?

Damn, I Dont Know, Stupid Question But Did You Turn The Key On When You Grounded It? Also On My 2000 There Is A Relay Next To The Fuses Check That Too.

maybe you just need a new fuel pump..run a jumper wire from the fuel pump to the battery and see if it comes on.

I was hoping it wasn't the fuel pump but I'll try and jump it.

As far as the relay, my fuel pump relay is next to the battery. Not sure how to check if it is bad that is why I was hoping to bypass that also. And yes, I had the key turned on b/c I actually tried starting it after I ran the wire from the pump to the battery. You said I wouldn't hear the fuel pump kick on so I had to try and start it.

Hello guys! I have the same problem with my GSXR 75007.

I checked the fuse, fuel pump relay, and fuel pump. It was working well when I tested all of it.

[B]My problem is, when I measured the voltage coming from the fuel pump connector, the output is only 5 Volts. So, it wasn't enough to get the (12 volts) fuel pump running.[/B] When I jumped the fuel pump connector directly to the battery, it runs.

Are there any suggestions on what I can do here? :)

hey havin the same problem did u end up figuring out what it was. i did a motor swap and old motor runs fine but when i put the new motor in it only puts out 5 volts to the pump changed the ecm but still nuthin
