Help, CRF450R Supermoto setup
 

So someone traded me a very crispy 2003 CRF450r for my banshee. I wanted to know what I need to do to set it up for stunting. I have seen people with the motorcycle smooth tires, not the nobby dirt tires. Can I slap these on my stock wheel or do i have to buy a full tire and wheel kit? I also got some info on some nice stuff offered from 50stunt.com. just was wondering if any other company offered anything else. all info and help is appreciated. looks like this conversion will be very expensive. I need some used parts, lol

need to just go ahead and get a full wheel tire kit. Excel wheels are usually the easiest to come across. You will have more common tire sizes thus making it easier to get sweet deals on tires. plus the 17" supermoto wheels are wider.

just get you a universal banjo and a hb master and start blowing O's

Front caliper relocation kit and a bigger rotor too. Stock rear brake setup is fine. A sprocket will also help depending on what is on there now. Motostrano has kits but it is cheaper to buy used or piece together your own kit.

supermoto stunt bike cost some $$ to build up with new parts, the best deal on wheels are the DNA's, I sell the for 699 a set, but your still lookin at over a grand to get them shipped , tubes, and some rubber mounted on them, then a few hundred more for the 320mm from rotor and relocator bracket. If you check out supermotojunkie.com you might be able to find some used setups for cheaper. There are some tires out there that fit the stock wheels, I'm just not sure where to find them. problem is, roll 4 endos and your stock front brakes will fade to nothing. Gearing help alot if you are lookin to crack some circles and slow wheelies, its way easier of the clutch cuz that 450r is geared pretty tall in first. Hit me up if you want, I can get you all the parts you need to set that bike up, with the best prices, and I know all the proper setup for a supermoto stunt bike. you can take it out and beat on it as it sits in the pic and have a ton of fun, but the better the bike is setup, the better it works and the more combos you can bust out on it. I'm a newbie with a kid on the way so i wanna get just the essentials. as I get better I can start getting more stuff. And my $ situation will hopefully be a lot better. Looks like even the essentials is gonna b a lot. I'm gonna need wheel kit, pegs and brake stuff. easy $1000

Just alone i spent 2100.00 on my wheels and another 1000.00 just on the front brake system. But i would check out supermotojunkie.com. the best thing you can do is sell your 450 and look at a supermoto's already converted. Food for thought. I know you can get about 3K for that bike and i seen some supermoto's for like 3800.00. so out of pocket it will be 800.00 vs 1000.00 or cheaper.

Watch for deals on supermotojunkie and even here. Nasty picked up wheels, tires, sprocket, caliper bracket, and rotor for around $500 on here a few months ago.

Sounds good. I"m gonna post it up and see if anyone bites. If it sells my best bet is to buy something setup already like u said. How much can i ask for? It's a 2003 in really clean condition. with clean papers.

First do your research. From my experience it is going to be a little hard to sell your bike? Winter is coming so not alot of people will need a bike. I would check NADA and KBB for starters. I looked it up on NADA and it shows $2775.00. It all depends on what you want and how good of a deal it is out there. Just keep looking. You will find something.

I would sell it and buy a bike that is already setup as well. I spent way to much money setting up my old YZ450f.

Yeah, I was looking on craigslist and there's a bunch of 450"s for sale. I'm just gonna rockit like it is and keep the eyes open on deals. how hard is it learning O's on nobbies?

And im loving every minute of it, hehe. I gotta say it IS one hell of a build and everyone around here loves it. Most of the guys cant get over the fact that its a YZ and not a WR. When u say YZ they think MX and they just drool over it, LoL.......Every where i go i have to keep a very close eye on her. Too many people around here with sticky fingers. Oh yeah and she sleeps next to the other babies in the garage. So yeah i've been takin good care of her for you.....=-)

I love the f4i. It was so nice to start a build with a minty bike. It's all setup now and I ride it all the time. Sorry Bklynlod I am done thread jacking now...lol

Yeah can still stunt on knobbies. There is alot of people who do it. I personally like street tires.

That does look like a great deal, But I really don't have 900 bucks to spend at the moment. I am moving and have a baby on the way. It's putting a big hole in my pocket. But It's worth it. Maybe after the move if you still have them, i will def pick them up.

Because I did have the intent of dropping the money but am also building up an 06 636. So trying to get 2 bikes setup is getting expensive. This is why I said I'll just get the essentials when I realized it would b over a thousand.

I would do that trade though.
