started molding my fairings on the 636

i love ed100's and jay furys bikes so much i started molding mine too...skim coating with bondo tomoorow, sending out for paint next week...i think i mialed it pretty good in 5 hours with no experience plastic welding and shit..heres pics of mine and eds and jays

so nobody asks, thats grey plastic from a wrecked R1 side fairing i used to mold it with...it looks like metal in the pic, but its just grey plastic...painting it next week

:yeahthats sweet it gives the bike a real nice clean look! , what do you think of plastic welding? im getting some fairing that have been plastic welded, ya think they can hold up to some abuse without the weld splitting?

ive only seen it on thier bikes...if ur streetfighter, it keeps it looking fresh and complete..just following in the steps of my friends...

Care to post up a tutorial, like a step by step? what else could we use besides an R1 fairing?

i dont have a video camera so i cant post a tutorial kelm...and u can use any piece of plastic pretty much..as long as its oem plastic from a motorcycle, its the same kinda plastic(u need the flat parts from a fairing), its melts together good...dremel with a router drill bit to cut plastic, (the cutting discs on a dremel melt plastic, so get a router looking bit) heat gun to bend the plastic after u got it cut to shape, soldering iron and some scrap pieces, melt them down togther inside and out, use 3m panel bond on the inside(laid dry wall meash tape on the epoxy b4 it dried), sand the outside down, then skim coat with bondo to clean up and finish it up

im gonna be buying new side fairings for my zx6, and i have the old ones still. maybe ill pay a local body guy to do that to mine. that shit just looks cleannnn!

i tried welding the plastic with my soldering iron... it just made it look all old and crsipy

As soon as I get my bike all back together, i'm down....I love the RR man, takes a little getting used to but absolutely love it. You planning on going to stuntwars this year?
