A correction on info about Garret. He road a silver 600 gsxr. Not sure how I really feel about it all right now. Reality has not sunken in yet. Seeing how I was with him about an hour before it all happened. I'm glad to see that Aaron made it ok. For Garret, may he rest in peace. Another fallen brother. Becarefull out there guys and gals. You never know when your ticket could be punched. F*cken 4-wheelers.:( :( :( :(

P.S. It is unconfirmed yet, but the wake may be this Friday, and the funeral Saturday. If anyone finds out more. Please let me know too. Otherwise I will post anything I find out here.

929NUT 09-22-2003 08:32 AM

There is an update with Aaron. He made it through surgery with no problems. Just some swelling and some bruising. He is at Edwards Hospital rm 507 if anyone is interested in going. I'm going to stop by after work to see how he is doing. Also, Garret's parents will be in town by wed. Still waiting to confirm the funeral arrangements.

Wow, That's eerie. Does anyone know if he was wearing gear, or details like that?

929NUT 09-22-2003 12:10 PM

As far as gear went. Aaron always wore a helmet and jacket. Unfortunatly I cant say the same for Garret. He did wear a jacket, but never saw him with a helmet on. I heard some suggestions that if he did have one on he might have survived. But from what I understand how it happened any kind of survival might have left him as a vegetable. I dont know what is worse. This all still seems to crazy to me Shaggy. I dont know.

I can't believe it that Garret is gone. I talked him 2 hours before the accident. We only met about a month ago but the way him and I got along it was like we knew each other forever. Wednesday night we were sitting over at jimmys in naperville checking out girls and now he is gone. It was weird not riding with him this sunday because he would be the first to be at spot where we meet up at. Josh and I tried calling him sunday morning about his where abouts but he didn't pick up his phone so we thought that he probably sleeping it wasn't until 6:30pm when we heard the bad news. May god rest his soul. Here is picture of him that shuggs toke at his house before we went out riding.:(

929NUT 09-22-2003 06:27 PM

That's a good way to remember him. He always had a smile on his face, and ready to make someone laugh. Thanks for posting that picture Noman. Rest in peace Garret, Rest in peace.

900 Fury 09-22-2003 09:05 PM

man another F-ckin wreck.:( :(

RIP bro, taken B4 your time........

Papa Kev 09-22-2003 09:11 PM

Wow, I'm really glad you posted that picture also. I wasn't sure if I had ever met him, but I know now that I had. That's exactly how I remember him also, a very happy guy. May he rest in peace and I prey to God that no more of these stories arise!

It is always sad when we lose not only a rider, but a friend. I don't have exact details yet, but the memorial service is going to be Saturday afternoon at Yurs Funeral Home. Still waiting to find out which location and the time. I have also attached a picture from a night we were out in Jan. RIP Garrett, may an angel hold you under her wing.

Best of luck to Aaron, for a quick recovery.

Wheaton motorcyclist killed in Naperville crash

September 23, 2003

A Wheaton man died Sunday after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Naperville, police said Monday.

Garrett Bordenave, 22, and two other men also riding Suzuki motorcycles were southbound on Illinois Highway 59 at 12:06 a.m. when a pickup truck turned left from northbound Illinois 59 into the path of the motorcycles at the intersection at Diehl Road.

Bordenave and Aaron Jeglum, 27, of Aurora collided with the passenger side of the truck.

The third motorcyclist steered around the truck.

Bordenave and Jeglum were taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville, where Bordenave was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

He was the only motorcyclist not wearing a helmet, said Lt. Gregg Waitkus.

Jeglum was listed in fair condition Monday night, according to a nursing supervisor.

No one had been charged as of late Monday, said Sgt. Joel Truemper.

I'm kind of confused here. I spoke to someone at Yurs Funeral Home. He had said that the service is for Friday evening. He also said that Garrett had been cremated, and there is only a memorial on friday. The service starts at 7pm. Maybe he was given the wrong information. I'm just not sure. This is all to crazy for me. Maybe I shouldnt post my feelings here, but this is really hard. I cant imagine what his family is feeling right now. I'm am truly sorry for their loss of such a wonderful person as Garrett was. I hope that time will ease their pain quickly. If Garrett had touched your life, I think it would mean a lot to his family to see you there. To show how much he was loved here.

sbari24 09-23-2003 03:45 PM

I just spoke with Marlene at Yurs and she said the memorial is Saturday from 3-7 (I apologize for the wrong time earlier) and the service will start at 6pm. The address is 405 E Main St., Saint Charles. It is on the Southwest corner of 64 (North Ave/Main) and 7th (Rt 25). Garrett was cremated so his family can take him home to Hawaii. I'm sorry if my earlier post caused any confusion.

Eric- You are a 100% correct. He was a great person. I rode with him on a few occasions and I beleive he is the one that introduced me to 954NUT. I only knew him for a short period of time approx 2 years. He was one of the first people I met after buying my first bike along with Ducati Joe and Danny down in Naperville one night. Great Great Individual......

RIP Garrett you will be missed
