Miami rider goes down on okeechobee
 

it was Dec. 31st 2006, my friend Carlitos "el flaco" Alonso was riding with a friend along the infamous okeechobee rd. down here in miami. he lost control of the bike and hit the mudside of the road. it was told to me that he ingested some mud from the swamp and his lungs got congested. if it was not for the alert measure of the people around him, he would most likely have been DOA.

went to see him at ICU at hollywood memorial, he recognized me and said hello by lifting his eyebrows. they had him in a respirator. broke his wrist, ankle, and scraped his brain. i kept his mom Sara company until his wife lourdes returned to the hospital. I plan to go see him again in a week and hopefully he will be better.

i rode many times with el flaco from nelson cycle's shop in hialeah to south beach, to ft. lauderdale rush street and back. the ride was usually igniting and carlitos always stayed with the pack.
