CBR 954 2nd Gear Wheelie Help.

Okay first off yes I am asking for help to wheelie one of the easiest bikes to wheelie.....

Background:
I recently purchased my first 954, I can clutch up in 1st gear w/o issue and ride it out fairly well. I previously owned a GSX-R 600 and only did power wheelies so I definitely prefer clutching it up.

Problem:
I understand a majority of response are going to state the issue is me. That's fine please feel free to offer advise. Okay so..... when i attempt to clutch in 2nd gear I can get the front wheel roughly 8-12 inches off the ground however the bike almost instantly bogs down bringing the front wheel to the ground.

How I do first gear clutch up:
Roll in 1st gear right around 25 mph roughly 3800 rpm, I slip the clutch and whack the throttle bringing the front tire up w/o any real effort.

How I attempt second gear clutch up:
I've tired a similar technique to my first gear wheelie w/ little to no success. I've tried accelerating hard from about 3500 rpm and slipping the clutch w/ little to no success.

I do all my wheelies from a sitting position. I've tried shifting back on the seat still no real success. The issue is definitely this bog down that happens. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S I've read some articles on the exhaust valve being an issue w/ R1's. Could this be my problem bike runs great and fast otherwise. My only issue is my difficulties doing a clean second gear wheelie.

Pull the damn clutch in...don't slip it...rev that mother fucker to 8thousand plus rpm's and dump the clutch...cover your brake...balls up and COVER YOUR BRAKE

Re: CBR 954 2nd Gear Wheelie Help.

when i started doing wheelies i couldnt do it sitting down... too much fear of going over the back at the balance point.... then a friend taught me to put left foot on rear peg, right foot covering the brake (difficult to manage at the time being new) and to clutch up... pull in clutch with two fingers, rev up to 5-8k rpms, bounce the front end with your weight, and keep a steady hand... all in one seconds worth of motion.. if the bike wont come up (which it will) even in 4th gear this is possible on stock sprockets (for most sportbikes)... then try a new technique, standing usually releaves the fear of going over the back as you can see better and the balance point is actually lower... hope this advice helps.. if not... hella practice... took me about 100 tries on my first sportbike to reach balance point... after that, no fear, big balls, will let you ride it out

Ok guys heres and update......

I have been practicing ALOT. I dropped a tooth up front and started only doing staggered stance. WOW what a diffrence! Working on brake control and balance point comfort as of now. Thanks for all the advice. Now just got to find some buds that ride sport bikes in my area. Ill attempt to get a video up of some progress.
