07 GSXR 600 sprocket size question

So pretty new into the game. Just recently got my slow wheelie down to 40-45, just put stright bars on and am loving life.. Im needing a new chain and sprockets, Im running stock right now and want to upgrade in a bigger sprocket but also dont want to lose my highway speeds. live in california gotta keep that FWY speed at least 90 around here ha..

I was thinking 4 up in the rear an stock in the front??

I'd go to a 50T rear

Re: 07 GSXR 600 sprocket size question

HI,

4 up in the rear would help low end torque and make popping wheelies easier.

I don't have my data base handy but top speed would be reduced by the percent increase in the rear sprocket diameter.

If you tell me the size of the factory sprocket, I can tell you how much speed your top end would be reduced by by increasing the rear sprocket by 4 teeth.

Hope this helps you.

Andrew

PS - If you need a source for custom sized sprockets / custom sprockets we make them.....

I run a 1 down in the front and 54 in the rear on my 06 gsxr 600 and I love it and 80 is maybe my top speed i think haha but I can go as slow as I want in a wheelie and just to let u know it hurts to go down at 40- 45 it just happend to me 3 weeks ago haha so u should find a lot and slow them down a lot more...

I wouldn't go more than 1 down/4 up if you want to keep freeway. A stock sprocket bike can be slowed down to idle in the parking lot but bigger sprockets give you more engine brake.

Whatever you end up needing hit up our chains/sprockets section and use discount code zeus to save even more money :cheers

just a tip. 1 tooth in the front up or down = 3 teeth on the rear

Thanks for your guys help. And i bet it would hurt going down at 40-45. I have a lot close to home that Ive been going too. I ended up going 7 up in the rear

An easy way to figure out what chain length you need is to go on www.vortexracing.com and put in what bike you have and the sprocket sizes.
