help clutch up = wheelie spin for me.

i have no problem getting my dirt bikeup. i recently bought an 03 r6 and when ever i pop the clutch and get on the throttle the back tire just spins out.

and when i use less throttle it doesnt go up. should i be reving it up in the friction point to prevent the sudden shock of power to the rear. by the way i'm at 20 psi.

i never had this problem on my dirt bike. guess not enough power lol. give me your advice guys and gals.

You have to pull on the handlebars a little bit or sit further back. I sit very forward, so for me, pulling the bars works better.

Re: help clutch up = wheelie spin for me.

i'll try to sit back more. but do you guys pull the clutch all the way in and let go with throttle. or do you pull the clutch into the friction point and and let go with throttle?

same thing happened with me on my k7 750. im 18 and 135ilbs move your ass really far back on the seat and warm your tires up a bit and your problem should be solved my friend.

sounds pretty good warm up the tires, set back further in the seat, and pull up a little bit it should come right up unless your tires just way to hard and can't get it to stop spinning. i run a pilot and never have had a problem with it. as for the clutch i pull in tillit's not engaged and slip it into the throttle i don't just drop it. but that's just me

does the cooler weather have anything to do with OP's problem?

i also live in N.Y and since the temp has been dropping i have been doing a lot of spinning when trying to clutch a wheelie on my k7 600
-just taking a guess

oh yes, if you have a hard compound tire then it's gonna be more prone to spin, soft compound's nice for turns and wheelies. i have a pilot road 2 the 3 is supposed to be better but you might look into different tire rubber

Re: help clutch up = wheelie spin for me.

My full faired daily bikes had that problem on smoother roads and on colder days. Try being smoother with the clutch. You still want to let the lever out fast but make it a smooth motion and not simply dumping it.

I never had anymore trouble after getting that down. Aside from that, tires, pressure, weather, etc. can have an effect on it...

well i am guilty of being on a shitty used 180 tire. i swear my old worn out 190 tire rode better as far as general riding goes.

i like my 190 alot better.

Its all about finess. You need to have the right amount of throttle and dump the clutch in sync. If the tire is spinning, less throttle. You dont need to pull up on the bars and I dont recommend that. Throwing your body around will throw your balance off. You want to be able to feel what the bike is doing. if you have stock gearing, get going about 35 in 2nd and it should come right up.

My k7 gsxr600 spins all the damn time. Sit downs, Stand ups, ss it doesn't matter lol. I just yank harder and work through the initial spin and slow back down after bp. I'm only rocking -1, +6

Agreed. But that's because I barely ride and spend all my time stunting the keyboard and watching YouTube videos so I can talk like I know what I'm doing hhahahaha

Re: help clutch up = wheelie spin for me.

just sounds like you gotta sit back more, i hardly move on my 1000 but when i go to my 600 i gatta slide way back in the seat. i dont recommend 'yanking' the bars back either, comes up way too violent and unstable .. let the bike do the work. 2nd gear around 35 sounds about right .. make sure when it starts to come up you stay leaned back, dont lean forward at all cause it wont keep coming up. a lot of people freak out or whatever and lean forward and then complain the bike wont wheelie and they keep wasting money on bigger and bigger gearing like my brother lol.

2nd gear about 40 with +1 on the rear she pops right up. no lean,no pull. just sayin:)

Re: help clutch up = wheelie spin for me.

LOL +1 on the rear isnt enough to notice any difference.
