? about sprockets and chains...

Ive been looking and I dont understand what they mean when they ask how many teeth and pitch you want.

I was also wondering what you thought would be the best size to go with. I have an 05 r6 and would be doing parking lots but also doing street riding(and stunting). I want a good all around sprocket, but would eventually like to be able to pull of no handed wheelies.

Teeth are the number of teeth on the sprocket. The more teeth, the more bottom end pull you'll have but the less top end you will have. Smaller sprocket will give you more top end but take away low end. (this is talking about rear sprockets of course)

Pitch is the thinkness of the sprocket or chain. Most 600s come with 525 pitch. 530 is thicker, but also heavier and harder to turn because of that. 520 is lighter and a will move faster, easier. But isn't as strong as a 530.:2cents

Hmmm. That makes alot of sense now. Thanks. But what would you recommend (how many teeth up or downon the front and rear sprocket) for an all around stunt bike? I dont do any racing, but want to be abole to do no handers and also highway wheelies.

55T is still highway-able. Keep stock up front and if you want more later you can drop in the front without having to buy a new chain.

+10 is a good start if not a little higher, the R6 is a little weak compared to other bikes so little taller isnt a bad thing when starting out.

Your bike also came with a stock 532 sprocket size, which is the stupidest thing yamaha ever did. R1s dont even come with that big of a size. Drop down to a 520 size, youll want to change the entire sprocket set for 2 reasons, 1 no one makes a 532 rear stunt sprocket 2 it so old youll want to anyways, chains and sprockets wear out together. so putting a new chain on old sprockets will eat it up a lot faster then if you had replaced it all together.
